I know a couple of you have Mazda3s...

If anyone has a 2004-2008 (2.3L engine) in their possession right now, can you do me a favor and look at your engine wiring harness?

I just finished an engine swap (2.5L Ford engine, more POWER!), and I have a single lonely connector that doesn't have a mate. I've looked at a 2010 Mazda3, and the harness is different. I don't know about the Mazda5.

EDIT: This swap is only the block itself, so I'm using all of the original wiring, sensors, intake, etc. So, whatever yours looks like, mine should look like.

So, pop the hood, place your hands on the radiator support like you're going to lean over and look at the engine. Right were your RIGHT hand is, there's a grey connector under the lip of the radiator core support. It's right where your fingers are curled under right now.

It's on the harness that runs along the radiator core support, and it's clipped to the harness, so it can't move. WHERE DOES THE OTHER END GO? I *think* the other end is a male 2 pin black or dark grey connector, and the one I have is a lighter grey, 2 pin female. The connector is oversized, it's closer to an inch across.

Dude that's a cool swap. It's basically the same motor right? I know my old 6 was a Mazda/Ford 2.5. Should have dropped in the new 2.5t

Essentially a bored out 2.3L with better oiling and sleeved cylinders. I spun the rod bearings in my original engine 3 years ago, it took that long to finally give up the ghost. I cracked something...I'll find out what when this is done.

Ford engine has half the miles, cost $600 shipped, and I have $150 in accessories that I took off and can slowly sell on E-bay. Every single Mazda part bolts right on, and I have an extra 20HP with a stronger block without changing any real parameters under the hood. Supposed to take a few hundred miles for the ECU to trim the fuel for the slightly larger combustion chamber, and everything else works since nothing was actually changed or removed.

Pretty sure my brother has that same car, will see him tomorrow probably

That 2.5 is a popular swap for Miata third gen cars. Go from a 2.0 to a 2.5 and it just drops in. Bonus is that the 2.5 is cheaper to get than the 2.0

Any for sale locally? You could go take a look at one? Is there a Mazda3 specific forum? I am sure someone on there would be happy to help.

The forums are worthless unless you want to put more LED headlights on your whip. The handful of useful people don't visit often enough.

I almost accosted a random dude at my office building to look at his. I'll just tear the bumper off again and that will give me some more visibility. Even if I have to remove the radiator support again, it's only a few hours of extra work.
