High School Sports

Any of you go and watch High School sports?

I've been going to my town's wrestling matches for a few years now. It is great see how these kids get better over the years (well some do). There is also that connection you get with the local kids. I'll see them at the local places working and comment about the team. They always seem to be so appreciative for supporting the team.

I went to my 1st football game the other night. What a blast. I think I am ready to get off of professional sports.

My grandson is a varsity defensive end at the local high school. We have season tickets and reserved comfy seats, and have a great time at the games!

I have volunteered and photographed the high school football team for the last 10+years.
I get to be on the sidelines every game.
Great group of kids, parents, coaches, etc.
Get involved, give your time.
I love every minute

Going into our second year of HS sports with my son. Football, wrestling and baseball.

Baseball is his favorite (and best) sport but in terms of coaching quality and overall fun I'd say wrestling was the most fun with football a close second. Lots to learn about wrestling and it is a ton of fun to watch good wrestlers.

I will say the politics of HS sports and coaching are pretty horrendous and can ruin a sport for the best of kids.

High School Sports

I’m heavily involved in our town youth football program and as a feeder to the HS, I’m there often too.

I have no interest in watching football on TV, partially because I get a belly full of football during September, October and November but also because I have no patience for TV timeouts and commercials.

Our son swam year round and varsity for his high school starting in 9th grade. Swim meets were fun to watch....As long as it’s your kid. Then it’s HOURS of waiting.

High school meets weren’t bad with parents and politics. But holy cow, year round swimming was terrible with the politics within the team. We never sat with anyone.

I would rather watch a HS game where I don't know a single one of the kids than pretty much any professional athletic endeavor.

It’s hard to find a good handicapper for high school sports.

The wrestlers always amaze me. A lot of them get their butts kicked for years, humiliated in front of everyone, no chicks and they keep coming back and eventuly it clicks.. Zero teammates to hide behind. Awful practices. It has a pull I can't explain.
Regarding clubs, they produce a lot of good athletes but the parents can really suck. I likes it better when kids didn't focus on one sports and parents invested all their money getting training. It can create Ahole parents and the playing field I loses it's fairness. Where I've, it's the wealthy towns that typically always win. I guess it makes the upsets all thatch sweeter though.
