For some reason, Stevie Ray Vaughn's Texas Flood comes to mind.
Hope you have the high ground.

113.5 feet ASL is high Ground....

Mrs. Beard is having PTSD. And I am flying to Boise today and returning on Thursday...maybe...

That's the worst part with the missus being stressed about the weather, I hate to leave. I got back from a business trip out of town the day before Ike hit. I'm really glad that I did to.

LEAKYSEALS951 09-17-2019 05:30 AM

Quit messing with these floods. Come up to Virginia and visit your brewery. Stay dry!

brainz01 09-17-2019 05:31 AM

Wow. I knew it was supposed to be wet the next few days, but I'd not seen that graphic above. Yikes!

I was supposed to have left the country for business the Sunday at the beginning of Harvey. I was quite pleased when they cancelled all the IAH flights so I didn't have to make that decision/trip...

sc_rufctr 09-17-2019 05:39 AM

Seriously... What have you guys done? You keep getting hammered. :(

Take care champ.

Weather reports say it is similar to Harvey, a High Pressure system is blocking it from moving north and the depression is moving very slowly... thus lots of rain. I suspect a lot of people are going to have some form of PTSD...

I was stuck in Romania/France for Ike. I was one of the first people to fly into Bush they day it opened. I had to "position" myself in Minneapolis!

More like Allison. Rain fall, except near coast, should be 1/4th that of Harvey. And the rain is not falling where it will fill the Addicks or Barker reservoirs.

red-beard 09-17-2019 09:03 AM

Just upgraded to Tropical Depression. Still possible to be upgraded to Tropical Storm.

Very slow moving storm. It will take 12 hours to go from just south of Houston (Angleton) to Spring/Woodlands.

Jolly Amaranto 09-17-2019 11:39 AM

It is now tropical storm Imelda.

brainz01 09-17-2019 12:49 PM

Slow is right. Just a few sprinkles today, but you can watch it spinning just south on the radar.

flatbutt 09-17-2019 03:29 PM

Lots of water spinning around out there.

red-beard 09-17-2019 03:52 PM

And I'm outta here...

red-beard 09-17-2019 03:52 PM

Imelda is moving faster than expected.

Look out ALABAMA!

red-beard 09-18-2019 03:26 AM

It slowed down overnight. But it appears to be producing less rain. Only 8-15 inches, which is still a lot.

Boise is much quieter, cooler and drier...

brainz01 09-18-2019 06:09 AM

Really s l o w with almost zero wind.

Damp, but otherwise (thankfully) uneventful in central HTX, and otherwise mostly dry north of 10 and west of 45 today.

cabmandone 09-18-2019 06:33 AM

Build an Ark. Put two of every beer known to man on board. Most important, save the worst beer for last and hope it dries up before you're forced to drink the last beer.

You'll want to leave Boise before the next fire season...

Central Houston got the rain today. Big mess. All the usual street flooding.

red-beard 09-19-2019 11:34 AM

Airport closed. Diverted to OKC. Driving back.

RWebb 09-19-2019 11:54 AM

I think I spotted you on the highway...

Our grandson's pre-school closed early, so the daughter got off work and then came and grabbed the other grandson. She said that my wife would never have made it to get GS#1 in the boxster due to the standing water near the preschool. She made it home with all of the grandsons.

I was working from home today. What I heard was 7-10 inches with some spots to the north east or east of Houston getting as much as 15" in the last 24 hours. And another 4-8" predicted for the next 12 hours. I'll probably just WFH tomorrow too, but I'm sure I'd probably be able to get to work in the morning if I wanted to.

I've seen pics from folks that I know in the suburbs with plenty of high water in various neighborhoods. We're fortunate to be high and dry where we are despite being <.5 mile from Buffalo Bayou which regularly floods.

Jolly Amaranto 09-19-2019 12:16 PM

It appears to be drifting back at us.

Had you tried to fly into IAH, you may have been stuck there anyway. The underpasses leading in and out of the terminal area are under water.

brainz01 09-19-2019 01:19 PM

Wow. Had not seen that pic.

masraum 09-19-2019 02:38 PM

The metro bus service shut down, so all of the folks that went to work on the bus today are screwed.

It's 73* and calm and quiet without a drop of rain in sight outside right now. It's been like that for at least an hour, maybe two.

mattdavis11 09-19-2019 03:12 PM

Great, now we will hear news that people drowned walking home from work. Great day for Uber and Lyft drivers though. I'm sure they will have tons of requests such as "get me as close as you can"!

red-beard 09-19-2019 07:20 PM

Made it back about 830PM.

Better late than never. I hope you didn't have any water issues at the casa.

I think Houston is done for a while. I don't think it's rained in about 12 hours, and they are only predicting <.1" for today.

Jolly Amaranto 09-20-2019 04:43 AM

Houston at Main and Richmond.

Familiar scene these days as in old days.
