Nothing on this planet has influenced my life as profoundly and continually as the dead’s music, the best of which had lyrics written by Hunter. Thanks man

Damn. No one, I mean no one, grew up during my time who was not in some way influenced by this man, whether they knew it or not.

For over 30 years I’ve listened to lots of music and strayed every once in a while to all kinds of genres, but I have always gone back to my roots. And as has been mentioned, the Dead have influenced my life for good and bad. Hunters eloquent writing was a major part of that.

In an interview, Hunter quoted Dark Star lyrics and then said, "What's not clear about that?" He often wanted his lyrics to be interpreted deferentially by each listener, to make it more personal. Of course, I stall haven't figured out the Dark Star lyrics. Maybe some day.
