Anyone have any experience with PillPack or any other multidose med delivery service?

Taking my Mom for her annual checkup tomorrow and part of the process will be prescription med configuration and management.

Mom has been getting 90 days supply shipments via mail but they come in the conventional pill bottles and she dutifully sits at her kitchen table and meters them into one of those weekly plastic pill dispensers that have Sunday through Saturday compartments.

She's pretty good about keeping track of things but in an effort to be more proactive in heading off potential issues, I want to look into one of those services that send a month's supply of her meds already packaged in individual packets like this (from the CVS webpage):

PillPack is one service (through Amazon) and the other I know of is called Multidose and is run by CVS.

She currently takes about 4 different meds - plus Calcium and a vitamin.

I intend to research but thought I'd run it by the brain trust here as well - appreciate any input or thoughts - thanks!

one month supply is too frequent...........

FIL is on a plan like you describe, very convenient, I would like it myself, take 7 a day. on an automatic plan from expressscripts, 90 day supply. I have to believe expressscripts will offer something like this eventually.

Eventually I will look into such a plan but they are gonna need to do 90 loads or not worth the aggravation. and you know there will be a premium.....

Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm thinking the 30 day frequency is because there are situations where the prescription changes and then what do you do with all those pre-packaged packs? Guess you could break them all open and re-configure.

I thought there was no extra cost but haven't looked into it enough to know, yet.

your comment makes sense on the 30 day cycle. my scripts don't change so often that a 90 day supply is an issue.

And I would re configure, but that is just me.........

I see it both ways - and so, wonder if they would offer both 30 and 90 day products?

I will find out more and post my findings here regardless, in case it's of any interest to anyone else.

FYI: just saw this on the PillPack webpage:

Will my copays change?

In most cases, your copay will only change if you currently get a discount for 90-day refills, since we fill on a 30-day cycle.
What that equates to in dollars and cents, I don't know. May be insignificant.

Since we are retired military and now waaaaay over 65, the government uses Express Scripts who has the contract for supplying meds for us old folks. The only thing we have a co-pay on are one for me and one for my wife, both 90 day supplies. It is up to use to arrange the meds daily I.E. AM or PM or in-between. The only one I pay for outright is antibiotics and they are $4 for the weeks worth at Rite Aide. They do take care of ordering refills and making sure we never run out. I imagine anything that helps is worth while.

Thanks, John. That's what I am thinking.

What you currently have is exactly how it is set up for my Mom too, who is also former military.

Except for the anti-biotics.
