Latest Tesla news

Quote:
Friday marks the deadline for electric automaker Tesla Opens a New Window. to deliver a $920 million bond payment Opens a New Window. , which will likely dent the company’s cash flow. The payment, which is the company’s largest to date, stands to wipe out nearly 25 percent of the company’s cash.

In other news:
-They are gradually shutting down all brick and mortar dealers and are pushing toward online ordering only.
-The $35k base Model 3 is "unveiled". I don't see the word "available" so what does that mean?
-Elon in trouble with the SEC yet again (what a surprise).

They spent a lot of our taxpayer money to get here.

They are in trouble. Competition is about to swamp them.

They should have stayed in the niche, high end market. Trying to compete with Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota and Nissan is a fools errand.

Not enough volume on the high end to cover the huge expenses.

Exactly.
They’ve had a lot of struggles even though they’ve had a first to market advantage with basically no competition.
Mercedes, BMW, VW and the other big manufacturers are on the doorstep of launching their all electric car lines. In the next 4 years there will be hundreds and hundreds of thousands of them. No way Tesla can survive that.
The Tesla name has too much value to go away, though. The name will get bought out by one of the big companies and it’ll become one of their badges.

I see a lot of competition for what will remain a very minor part of the market.

I want Tesla to succeed & I like the fact that they upset the industry.

Seems we're stuck with the big guys for now... More beige anyone?

At least Tesla tried to be different.

The technology applies to all EVs. Not sure what you mean by minor part of the market.

I think he means the total US EV market. EV account for about 2% of the total auto market.

You can only buy the 35k one in black with crank windows. Yea that’s appealing.

It is going to grow. Though inexpensive gasoline is slowimg growth. Everybody and their dog is going to have new models coming on line in the next year or two. Tesla is going to get squeezed.
