I have a buddy on Oahu. I think he said it is about $1000 to ship a car from mainland. That may open up your options?

In Love with Kauai and just got back. I think "Da Crack" has some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten.

A 356 like this could be a good fit for driving around Kauai.
Lots of power and high speed capibility are wasted there.

Keep your eyes open, as unknown cars there do turn up once a while.
I once found and bought a decent 80 SC. From a storage locker in Koloa, that had been locked up for 12 years.

Great move for you, I love Kauai! Where have you settled?

Get ready to DIY. Not much skilled help available there.

Cheers Richard

Lived on Oahu in the '60s and have visited Kauai much more recently. If I were back in the islands I'd like something like a Meyers Manx-ish dune buggy with waterproof upholstery and efficient drains.

regards,
Phil

I had a Manx dune buggy on the big island for a few years as my only vehicle. It worked out great in Kona, just used surfboards as a roof. Still remember the few trips to volcanoes and Hilo side. The fun all changed once on the rainy side.

Most ot Kauai is pretty wet for that sort of ride. Could be OK on the south and west side.

Did somebody say Kauai?

Our Time in Kauai and the Race

And I think Richard is correct. A topless Manx would probably be tough on the north side, but the south side would be more manageable.

Welcome to the island!

Maybe a 550 spyder replica. I lived on the islands for a few years and rust/corrosion was a serious problem.

Hey Anthony, looks like you have adopted Hawaiian time ok.

We're standing by here to hear more about your move, what prompted it, where on Kauai are you moving to? Did you find work there or retired?
What da scoop. Bra?

There are a few interesting aircooled cars on Craigslist in the islands to check out.

Cheers Richard

If you have Amazon prime watch this documentary and you'll see that their's more than Porsches to wrench on. If I didn't live on the mainland and still lived in Hawaii I'd have something other then a 911.
