Yes and be happy she is trying. Could be the best thing she has ever done.

It brings the whacko out within.

That's great of you. It takes a mature and devoted person to express that attitude. There are a number of things that accompany the inhaling as mentioned earlier. For instance I remember the habit of manipulating the cigarette with my hands/fingers and lips as something I had to delete from my life. Something I didn't expect.

Make sure she doesn't give up coffee at the same time.

Omg...not that to!

Oh man, this sounds so much like when I gave up. I was half way between a kitten and a rottweiler on methamphetamine. Mainly attack dog other than kitten.

Hide all the snacks and unhealthy food.

That's funny! Hang in there, Bud. Once she's broken the habit it'll be better for you both! Be proud of her that she's trying.

The fact that she quit smoking means that she is going to live longer if that is any help consoling her. My father died age 52 from smoking since he was a teenager.

Hoping that when she smoked she smoked outside because if not that means that you got a lot of second hand smoke.

By her not smoking it is win win but no doubt it is a tough transition. Likely you will both get over it in time.

Cold turkey is how I quit. It is probably the hardest thing I have ever done.

I hope it works out for you both.

Suggest Vaping to her?

You have my sympathy but that was a funny OP. lol ;)

(4 or 5 weeks and things should be better)

Did she smoke after a meal? Then she needs to be distracted by something else after eating.

Smoke with a cup of coffee? Or eat a snack with a smoke? Gotta break that association. T'ain't easy.

I quit cold turkey 35 years ago and the above is the key and is how it is (in my experience anyway). I would say it was a good 5 years before the temptation to light up completely went away, particularly after a couple of beers.

I was a pretty good smoker.
Pack and 1/2 of Marlboro lights for years.
I went for an Accupuncture treatment more than 15 years ago, and not a single thought of a cig since then.
No withdrawal, no cravings.

Just sayin...

One of my friends was a lifetime smoker. He said he was pretty sure his car would not start, unless he lit a cigarette first. He said they was the toughest part of quitting for him, the habit times to light up. After meals, and getting in the car.

He used Chantix to quit. Evidently is causes some people to feel suicidal so he doc asked him first about thoughts of suicide. He said he loved himself way too much, but he might be able to kill someone that offers him a cigarette, or cuts him off in traffic. He has been off the cigarettes for over 10 years now.

And he did not kill anyone, yet.

(a buddy swore Chantix messed up his wife and turned her wacko so she couldn't find her own house in her hometown. Truth pending.)
