Because it can never be said enough.

https://www.mit.edu/~jfc/right.html

Just drive in the right lane. Left to pass. Easy.

In New Zealand we pass both sides. It came to me as a surprise that other countries didn't do this too

Folks in California don't care. They go 65 on the left lane.

I have a smaller version of that sign in my garage.

That’s something that drove me nuts that I don’t miss. When I was traveling time was money and I was always aware of wasting it. A few minutes behind some left lane parker wasn’t really going to cost me that much, but it still pissed me off.

Since moving out here I don’t have a need to be on a 4 lane highway much. I probably haven’t been on an interstate in 3 months.

We pass on either side here too.

It is supposed to be that slower traffic stays right and passing is done on the left, but I don't think it's an actual law. There are laws that say that you can't pass on the right, but I believe those are specific to 2 lane roads where folks may try to pass on the shoulder.

Around here, it's not unusual for me to get on the highway that's 4-5 lanes in each direction and find the far left lane has the highest density of traffic and the density gradually decreases the farther right you go. I often end up passing where ever there's a hole. I checked the Texas laws, and I can't find anything that says that it's illegal to pass on the right.

On a two lane road I have only experienced being passed on the right (shoulder) in Texas.

No. Slow traffic stays right, pass on the left.

On a recent trip up to Tulsa the speed limit is 75. Most roll along at 80 or so. I was the perfect angle as always, and in the right lane as a State Trooper roll by at 85+ and pulled up behind one of the many giant oversized SUVs on the road now days. The moron did not move over, just sat in the left lane. In Oklahoma that is illegal. The trooper lit him up, and pulled him over. I was cheering, and I hope he got a ticket for impeding. Yea, they can and do write tickets for it.

Wait, I thought that the left lane was for watching movies while your autopilot takes care of things (of course it is set a few MPH below the speed limit for maximum range).

It's legal and expected here that if you're in the country on a 2 lane road with a wide shoulder going slow, that you move over to the right to let cars pass on the left. That was weird to me.

You definitely shouldn't have been passed on the shoulder. That, I believe, is illegal, but then so is speeding, etc...

Sounds like I did not know the system. Literally first day of my life in Texas. Hey, but I got there as fast as I could as the bumper sticker says.
