If you can't beat them, join them!! Take a few weeks off work, get some buddies (bigger is better) and move right in. You're now a room mate. Be the most obnoxious roomy you can be. When they tire of you, and try to remove you from the property, charge them with assault. Make their life a living hell. Have some fun with it. Your brother did say you could stay at his place anytime you wanted didn't he?

I'm reading all this in awe...sorry about your situation and I really hope you get through this. Sorry for the loss of your brother.

I seem to remember hearing about some low-lifes who were forced out, and before they left they filled all the toilets and drains with cement.
Very expensive.

And here's the funny part, if you shoot them dead YOU get in trouble. I know huh?

I wonder how long it will be before CA gives tent city folks squatters rights? How about the ones that pitch a tent on the sidewalk in front of your business?

look 171 10-15-2019 07:49 PM

its already here. Was chatting with my housing inspector a few weeks back. A cop can't just go into a tent and search if the tent is on a public place like a park. They need a warn.

Seattle.
Public parks are now homeless camps.

Last time I was at Gasworks park is the last time I'll be at Gasworks park.

Used to be a great study break when I was at SPU. No more.

I understand about the homeless camps and tent cities. My concern is the next step will be that tent will have squatters rights and you are obligated to provide them use the electric, water, whatever as with the problem with homeowners who are being taken advantage of by squatters.

There are already talks of building homeless building mixed in regular folks. I think its already happening? I have not kept up with the latest and the greatest.

The other talk was building clinics for the bums so they can regular their illegal drug use to prevent OD. What a bunch of fooked up nut jobs

I picture the CA socialists passing laws making it illegal to "evict" someone who pitched a tent in your yard and plugged into your outdoor outlet (except if you live in a gated community...).

about 2 years ago, one of our neighbor down the hill with a pretty good size property, corner lot, big bamboos covering a pretty good size of the corner. House sits on top of the hill so the owners can't really see into the area between the bamboos. There were bums living in there going through a gap to get at the center of this little paradise. I see them sometimes as I drive up the hill. someone posted about the bums living in the yard and tried to notify the owners. Some of the fooking nut job left (lots of Behind the scene hollywood type, writers and editors and such) wing posted about leave the bums alone and let live. Finally the owner got wind of it and decided o thin out the bomb and cops were called to get rid of them. What a screwed up way of thinking. I wonder what they will say if they were in their property playing slip and fall? I bet that tune will change fast.

jeezuz fk'ng christ. Does California have to ruin every one of its redeeming qualities?

Feces maps? Free rent at the owners expense? Highest utilities cost in the country that black out and catch fire? The most homeless? The highest gas prices? I could go on but I would hope you get the picture.

Why do you people continue to vote for morons who take your money? Do you all work for the state government, Caltrans or PG&E and plan to move out when you retire? What will be left?

fastfredracing 10-16-2019 01:22 PM

Its all that talent.

Yep. And the word "vote" gets attention. If you want to dramatize the CA situation re who's running things, take it to PARF.
Zeke I would respectfully disagree- who's "running things" is responsible for situations like this. You reap what you sow.

This isn't drama it's real life. As a former owner of rental properties I've dealt with much the same thing.

All this does is employ bureaucrats and lawyers and promote the anarchy of deadbeats. The honest and hardworking are losing their rights.

KC, that was funny.

Milt,

I apologize if you had the impression I was trying to dramatize things by pointing out that the laws here appear to be biased against landlords. A consequence of this is that it makes it more challenging for a rental property to be a money making proposition here. I think there are a number of other respondents to the thread that concur with this assessment.

I read all my posts. Would you be able to point out where I mention who is running things in any of them? I think I was maybe the only person who did not, including you.

Tobra 10-18-2019 08:05 PM

Oh yeah, came to post this

Beware!

I own a few SFR rentals as well as a commercial property and a business in CA so you can call me crazy if you want...

Regardless, let me tell you this: the crazy crap in CA spreads to every other state.

Think I'm wrong? Try buying an old fashioned gas can in the other 49 states. More than likely you'll end up with only the idiotic vapor recovery nozzle cans that started in CA!
