call the cops on the drug use, will get this group out of there

Kraftwerk 10-23-2019 06:52 AM

It's good you have a level headed lawyer. I wouldn't have so much patience, but then again nothing is as scary as a Meth Head Zombie. One thing you can depend on is they're probably not going to get a lawyer to go after you.

cairns 10-23-2019 07:13 AM

I doubt if the cops in California care about the drug use......

KFC911 10-23-2019 08:13 AM

There would be a "Methheads Inside" billboard on the lawn by this afternoon, obvious cameras everywhere, and I would absolutely move into house if I had too.

Move on...your gig is over here :(.

Would you really do that, move in or its just eh keyboard talking?

Yep, call cops

MBAtarga 10-23-2019 08:29 AM

Report it as a suspected meth house.

Depends upon the tennants....seriously. Not knowing them...it might just be keyboard talk if it was a biker gang for example. But I would absolutely go on "offense".... directly or discretely...whatever it takes.

The billboard and cameras...absolutely ;)

I would be worried the State would invoke some obscure law related to illegal drugs and take title to the home and put up for State auction. I believe they do that will all kinds of property taken in drug raids.

I would not step foot on the property or harass any of the occupants. Follow the legal system even if it will take time.

This.

If they are making meth, then you will never be able to sell that house unless you detox that damn thing. I offered to buy this boarded up house in a normal neighborhood several years ago. I was dumb and desperate because there are lots of money to be made on this one. I started to poke around and found that the house has been on the market off and on for the past few years but no note of anything relating to drug mfg. I got talking with a friend who's firearm instructor for the LAPD. He pull some favors and found out the house was indeed a drug house that cooked up meth. The clean up would have been far too much for any profit on that home. I walked, but still watching it from time to time and hope to buy it for land value. Maybe one day, who knows?

Hell, I would never take that change of visiting, forget about moving in. I don't care if they are gangs or just a bunch of loser druggies. Not taking that change. Just think, what if they want to rob you and thing can go south real fast if you had to defend yourself? What if you hurt one of them? Out here in Fooking LALA land, you are on the hook and will ended up in jail. Hey man, I don't feel like going back to jail, getting rape.....again:)

One of the very things I've learned through wisdom over the years:

Others may have nothing to loose, while I have a great deal to loose.
That thought tends to calm me down in many instances. Like on a freeway next to someone who deserves bad stuff.

With literary licence from the inter-webs:

Quote:

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

Television news channels show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Support groups stage a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, "We shall overcome."

Others exclaim in an interview that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Ant Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the house he is in,which as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again. The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and once peaceful, neighborhood.

Exactly. A meth "cook" generates hazardous waste, and it will cost a LOT to clean up. OTOH, they may blow the house up trying to make meth. The ensuing fire will take care of an demolition costs.

sorry to say, but that is the truth

I thought about talking to the principal of the school around the corner but like someone
that posted with helpful information... My brother's house will probably be confiscated by the State.

Now... Believe me, you can't make this stuff up.
Yesterday, straight across the street from my brother's house is a two story home that is being fixed up after a major water leak upstairs. The owners have relocated for work to be done.
The contractors removing and replacing all the damage go out for 30 to 45 minutes for lunch every day.
Well, they came back yesterday from Taco Bell and all their tools were gone.
Who would know this small window of opportunity?

Yea.. someone watching from my little brother's house. Can't make it up. Crazy.
Don't know what I can do but I am going to do something soon to end this mess.

How to go about that is not something I know about either, but I'd find a way even if I had to buy an old van and park it across the street with a peep hole for the camera. Gotta be a way.

Look said "If..."

and yes they - or a "buddy" - might be that ambitious - it will contaminate the place even if they only start to do it, a successful cook is not required

Rapewta 10-23-2019 11:29 AM

look 171 10-23-2019 11:51 AM

Tobra 10-23-2019 11:55 AM

Are you dealing with this long distance, or are you local?

To do so is to hold the property as an asset against the liability of a convicted criminal. I can't see this happening since neither you or your brother has been convicted of a crime associated with the property or are under investigation for same.

Please consult with your attorney on this matter. I still think having a third party with interest in the situation (a school within 100 yards) will result in more immediate and proper action. You are actually doing the community a favor.

Squatters may be your (future) liability for sure but they are also a liability to the community right now if they are openly breaking the law. Only real evidence is going to help and then get the advice you need.

Oh, on the theft, the contractors were just plain stupid whether the squatters were responsible or not. I know if it were my tools I'd be over there with major trouble for those asholes.

We have had our fair share of tools getting stolen over the years. Those fookers are so bold that they no longer care. My guy had his truck full of those stackable tool boxes in the back of his truck. he pulled over at a 7/11 for a cup of coffee on his way home. 2 guys, illegal looking, just climbed over his truck and lifted it over into another beat up truck while he's watching as he was paying for his coffee. He comes running out and they slowly got into their truck and drove away. If you hit them, then you go to jail. Worst, they might kick your ass. Call the cops, or its on 7/11's vid? so what, cops will not do a goddamnthing.

Last year, we were working in Hancock Park. Trucks were parked on the street in front of the house. These guys drove up, take a few pieces and drive off. I saw them from the upstairs window and started screaming. All I got was a middle finger from the thief as he drove off. Fook up deal
