I've had the keys to a Miura S once.
I am just a tad tall in the torso for it. Good thing I can't afford one I guess. :confused: Aside from needing a neck bent position because of roof collision it was a really comfortable interior design. With better exhaust mufflers it could almost be a GT. Have not driven one but from an aesthetic standpoint the Diablo Roadster is the Lambo for me. I'm sure the newest ones drive better, and I know they sound better. Still, for an outrageous car maybe drives better isn't really better. :) I'd for sure put up with its quirks and faults if I were given one. I’ve driven the Urus and new Huracan Evo, the Evo is on another level, I wish I had the money...but for the same money it would be a tough call over the 458 Italia

Harry has owned Lamborghinis for a long time. I would encourage you to watch more of his videos, on those cars and on the many other cars that he owns. He’s quite the enthusiast and his videos are very well done. He’s currently rebuilding the engine out of his Espada, that’s worth a look to see how the original Lamborghini V12 motors were built. They are different from the Ferrari V12s of the same era and also the later Lamborghini V12s.

It's interesting to compare his thoughts on those cars with mine, as we've owned some of the same cars. I was very interested in his first outing in an LP400, which was a bit of a revelation for him. Funny actually, after all of his years owning a later QV.

We've got an orange Miura near us locally. Usually makes it out to a few Cars and Cappuccino events each year. Owned by a super nice guy who restored it over a decade. It's in my top 5 most beautiful cars. The others being an early EType, two Maseratis - Tipo Stradale and MC 12 - and a Ferrari 250 GTO.
Edit: the successor to the GT40 is up there too for me. The short-lived P68. |
Harry is a great enthusiast but some of his earlier videos are almost unwatchable because of the sound quality. He's currently doing a series on the rebuilding of one of his Lambo engines. Well worth watching!
My dream list if I ever won a big lottery... 1. Countach 2. Miura 3. The original 930 turbo. 4. An early front engine Ferrari (but not a stupid money version). The ultimate? A RHD Ferrari F40. Fun Fact: Lamborghini factory doesn't have a paint booth, finished car-body's travel, by train, to a facility to be painted then shipped back to be built-up. Always wanted to drive one , any one of em.

A Countach would be an unlikely addition for me even if money was no impediment. I'd want to drive whatever was in my garage, at least a little bit. The pedal box is tiny and askew and the interior is too for cramped for someone over 5'10"and 200 lbs. A 911 feels big inside in comparison. Plus the whole "raising the door to back up the car in tight quarters" thing would annoy me every time it left the garage. It's still iconic and fun to look at though.
There is a really cool documentary on Amazon called "Driving Dreams" (I think) that interviews several of the great Italian designers. Ghandini being one of them. He looks to be about 5' 6" and a buck forty five. |
