Thumbs up got a vinyl cutter/plotter today

It was free

It's a JSI '24 CUT'

It needs a cable and software.
Any advice on locating a basic freeware driver?

These guys have a subscription based software... Not terribly expensive...

Welcome to SignCut-X2 (sc-x2)

If nothing else, if you can find a cable, you can try the free trial software...

The machine uses a 25 pin serial input.

I need the male cable end to USB.

Fry's seems to have something.

I have some Belkin DB25 to USB adaptors. From back in the day when the transition was happening and still had some legacy serial stuff.

PM address and I'll send you one, heck I'll send whatever I have, keep what works, send back the rest.

@trekkor what kind of vinyl cutter do you use? Would you recommend it?

I'm looking for a machine which can help me start a side hustle. Sorry for off topic.

I haven't decided yet which will be the winner. Main reason is I couldn't find a half decent review. The internet is filled with hype and I bet these people never used a vinyl cutter before.

There are so many to choose from. I've found this blog which is different from the rest. The blogger says it as it is. I've read a few reviews and some are real hatchet jobs. And I believe she put together a best article.

If you were me which one would you pick from this best article? Or maybe you have different recommendation?

I would rather hear someone's opinion who is using it not trying to sell it to me.

Any hints and tips are welcome
