Very nice video... I'll take a GT2RS.... for less than half the price of the collector's 959...

I wouldn’t go as far as to say I’d drive the 959 every day, even if I could afford 30 thousand dollar service and 24 thousand dollar tires... maybe a weekend here and there...

Collector> 959
Driver > GT2RS

I had the good fortune of spending some quality time on a racetrack with a GT2RS. This was a 987 model so only around 650 ponies. It is a phenomenal car.

Great but $30,000 to change the oil in a 959? WTF are they smoking?

I love my 3RS but if I wanted the ultimate rub down by a diaper than 959. If I wanted a driver then no brainer.

I didn’t read the article yet but a new GT2RS would run away from a 959 and hide. Time marches on.

I wouldn’t consider the GT2 a daily driver by any stretch.

A friend of mine bought a very nice 959 about 15 years ago for $160,000.
We all met at the Porsche dealer for the unveiling of some new turbo Porsche, a young salesman asked questions about the hp, speed, four wheel drive, etc. and could not understand what the fuss was all about with the 959 as you could have bought the new turbo with a warranty and less maintence for the same money. When he left my friend said to me "that is why he just sales them and I am be able to buy them"
The GT2RS will be another used car in a few years that will be over shadowed by Porsche latest offering, on the other hand, the 959 will always be a ground breaking statement of Porsche engineering to the world and has a place in history, that is why it is so sought after and will always be sought after.
People with 959's usually have a few driver Porsches to use.

^^^ If you had one you'd have to have the other as well.

Great video... I must have watched that more than 10 times over the years.

I was thinking the same thing. I can handle the depreciation on the GT2RS more than I can handle paying for the oil change or the tires on the 959 I think

Completely agree. I'd love to hear the story of buying a 959 for $160k, did not know that they were ever that cheap(?)

I have a friend w a new GT2RS that he might want to sell, (PTS Signal Orange), but I don't think that they depreciate at this point.
