How SEALS relieve stress

Interesting...

https://getpocket.com/explore/item/beat-stress-like-a-navy-seal-with-this-ridiculously-easy-exercise?utm_source=pocket-newtab

There's no question that U.S. Navy SEALs face some of the most difficult situations any human could encounter. Because of this, they've developed ways to apply the emerging science of grit, resilience, and emotional regulation to effectively manage stress.

In fact, neural scans show that some SEALs have a remarkable ability to remain calm in response to threatening situations. Their brains respond differently to stress, activating neural centers related to emotional control instead of ones related to anxiety and fear.

I breath like that when target shooting one of my black powder rifles. I breath in 3 times and hold it the same amount of time then after the 3rd exhale I align the target and touch the set trigger. I don't even try to focus on the target until the 2nd exhale and then just to get close.

My doctor taught me that trick years ago so i'd chill out before getting BP taken. I have normal BP but for some reason always read high at doctor's office (not scared at all, but I guess it's "a test" and my brain is stupid), he used 5 seconds, Works a treat.

The people that join the Seal, SAS, Commandos or Green berets are drawn to the profession.
They are not what I would call the average soldier. They think differently and they like wining.
These are not normal Hombres.

"In fact, neural scans show that some SEALs have a remarkable ability to remain calm in response to threatening situations. Their brains respond differently to stress, activating neural centers related to emotional control instead of ones related to anxiety and fear."

They tried to display this characteristic in the first The Equaliser movie.

Interesting technique but the reality is that some people thrive under stress and some wilt. I’m the former but also tend to get bored in routine situations. So there’s no one ideal state.

I've discovered that I calm right down in sudden extremely stressful situations. I wish I hadn't discovered that, though.

Normally, I work myself up to near panic if I have time to think about what I know is coming that may be stessful. Most of the time it isn't nearly as stressful as I thought it would be
