5 Officers shot in Houston

1 suspect dead. 2 still barricaded in.

5 Officers shot. 1 life-flighted.

This was part of the gang taskforce and a DEA agent said it was drug/gang related.

Hate stories like this. My brother serves warrants all the time.

I have been the first person in the "stack" and served hundreds of warrants working a gang unit. This is a horrible story and I wish all the officers a full and speedy recovery. I hope all of the dead bad guys are being chased around by the devil as I type this post!

Update: 1 of the shot officers was released. 2 were treated and are in the hospital. 2 that were critical are out of surgery.

One of our main bike routes from downtown Houston towards Clearlake (NASA) / Galveston was 1 block from the shooting.

Mexico via POE through Laredo....via a tunnel...middle of town? Then on an 18 wheeler and up to my gang riddled area...now . Began a decade and a half ago....

Inside the house, it sounds like they found small amounts of marijuana and a white substance. Doesn't sound like they were dealing drugs. The guns they had were a revolver and shotgun. Again, not the kind that drug dealers generally use.

I'm trying to find out, but they said they were undercover officers. I'm trying to see if they were uniformed or not.

The chaos on the tree-lined Harding Street began about 5 p.m., Acevedo said, when a dozen narcotics officers backed by a squad of uniformed patrol officers descended on the Pecan Park home to serve the search warrant. Narcotics officers had developed a case against the dealers— suspected of selling black tar heroin after making several undercover buys, according to law enforcement sources.

As officers rammed through the door to serve the warrant, their colleagues in marked patrol cars sounded their sirens and turned on their lights. They were immediately shot at by at least one gunman inside, the chief said, detailing the firefigh

So, you are in a lower income area and a bunch of armed people, not in uniforms, run up and break down your door.

This may be a case of a home owner defending against what he thought was a home invasion.

Undercover officers had made several heroin purchases from this couple so they were not your average citizens ........ they were criminals . If the officers yelled out they were there for a warrant ( I don't know if they did or didn't ) and the couple started shooting then the couple made a very poor decision .

The investigation has not found any black tar heroin in the house, just small amounts of marijuana and an unidentified white powder. The neighbors on both sides were interviewed, both said they knew the couple well, they lived there for years and were not dealing drugs.

The couple had been married for 20 years. He had several firearms, but this is pretty normal for Texas. He was a machinist.
