She still lives at home, and her parents accompany her on tour. I suspect they have no idea the buzz saw their daughter is about to go into, and I wish them the best. The biz has a higher mortality rate than the 1930s Grand Prix. Cobain, Morrison, Winehouse, Cornell, Bennington, Staley, Hendrix, Courtney Love (may as well be dead). Based on this interview on Kimmel, she seems to have a good head on her shoulders.

Welcome to the Machine, Billie.

Can you imagine opening your mouth and having that happen?

You can tune a piano but you can't tune a voice, at her level.

She is about to enter the maelstrom of fame and "selling out", and, and...

I wish her the best. The Stern interview really was informative. Just sing, young Lady, listen to you.

Imagine how the other kids felt at the high school talent show.

I am completely out of touch with modern music, but I ran across her on SNL a few weeks ago. My initial impression was "strange but interesting".

Last night I started checking out a bit more of her music. She really does have a fantastic voice. It is very hypnotic. Normally I am allergic to over produced pop music but alot of her stuff seems a cut above. I would love to hear a few unplugged songs though. I was listening on my home stereo with 300lbs of speaker and some of the bass mix is crazy. It lost alot of literal impact on my zero option Focus ST stereo on the way into work.

Overall very impressed. I think maybe Amy Winehouse was the last pop musician I really respected.

Very talented. Also must be well connected or have a great manager. She has been on TV nearly non stop lately. Seems to be super smart and I hope smart enough to stay out of trouble.

She’s good but there is way too much reliance on auto tune these days. Even she uses it, I think it’s too much of a crutch that will prevent singer, even good ones like her from developing more without it.

You can also watch her on Carpool Karaoke with James Cordon on YouTube.

It’s not for me, but I can see the attraction. She has a great voice and is talanted. Seems to pretty well grounded too.

I’ll have try it again while driving home tomorrow.
