Mercedes GLA 4Motion / Infinity Q30 - any good?

So I’m considering getting rid of my WRX. It’s been a fun car to drive but has been in the dealer for 2 of the 14 months I have owned it with hard starting issues.

We are now waiting for a software update from Subaru Japan to be released.

So I want an AWD 4 seat car under $40,000 CDN. The Mercedes GLA seems to tick this box. Are they any good? Anyone have one?

The last Mercedes I had was a Unimog 406. I’m hoping a modern Merc will be entirely different.

STOP, do not proceed. I'm in service at MB. I'm not saying they are bad cars, but probably the worst one we offer. Boring, ugly, noisy, not "MB" quality. Would make a great Nissan, lol.

The AMG version is pretty fun. The CLA AMG is more fun, pretty nasty and fast.

What is your take on the GLC? Specifically a couple year old one. I'm looking for a midsize SUV in the $25k range. Looks a bit nicer than an Explorer, or Tiguan. The GLE is too big/ dated looking.

I got out of my car the other day. The car next to mine was a GLA45. I was shocked to see dive planes on the thing. My assumption was that it's one of the cheaper AMG vehicles, so maybe they are a little more boy-racer with them assuming that it'll mostly be younger people?

The one that I saw also had another small one above the one in the photo above.

I'd love to know if there's ANY actual benefit or if these are purely aesthetic.

Not a bad car. Basically a C300. Still pretty nice but not your E or S class classic Mercedes feel. The GLC63 is holy cow awesome

The face-lifted 2015-19 ML/GLE 400 & 450 are pretty nice and have good power. But you're right, the overall design was dated. The new generation (2020) just came out this year and is light years ahead.

Been driving an '18 for a couple years now. Love it, no issues. Bought a loaner/demo with 3K on it as CPO with the extended warranty.

Agreed on the '20 GLE350's. Passed on earlier years because of the interior. New ones are vastly improved but ones I've driven have the same engine 2.0 as the GLC. Makes it underpowered.

I have had no problems at all, my current GLC coupe, is a perfect winter car.
And my previous GLA 220 4-matic, was completly trouble free also!

How did you fit in the GLA? I thought it was really cramped, but roomier than a CLA. A CLA was a no go for me as my head hits the roof.

I am not that big!
The GLA is as roomy as any car in the front seats, maybe smaller in the back seats, but that did not bother me!
I could fit my MTB in the boot if front wheel was removed!
It was a great car, fun to drive! Especially in winter!

The 450's six cylinder take care of that issue. Can't wait for the AMGs to roll out.
