BAT Temptation

Regret selling mine.

Figured this one would pop near the end and has now exceeded my threshold for an impulse buy.

Nice example though.

Why is that one selling so much higher than the "previous auctions" listed underneath it?

I was working for Mitsubishi when those cars came out . I think I have told this story, but we got the first one in the Pittsburgh area, and the motor locked up tight one frigid January morning when the lot boy tried to move it inside to wash it . It had 7 miles on it or something crazy like that.
The little Japanese men showed up from Mitsubishi and tore it down with help from the head mechanic at the time.
That was a lot of car for its time. I have worked on 2 of them recently . One was a time capsule, that needed a fuel pump and some other minimal work, the other a rusty tuned crapbox with a horribly rebuilt motor, wiring issues, lots of cheesy tuner kid mods . I was kind of surprised how strong they ran, even the stock one .
I can remember being blown away, when the little japanese men were raising and lowering the car with nothing but a laptop .

I think I have a BaT temptation at least once a week, though I was getting ready to do the deed on this when after I (initially) thought that my late father was the original owner.

I’ve quit looking because it’s sad to anybody on a budget.

Twin turbo DOHC 4 bolt main 6 banger outputting 320 HP driving all 4 wheels in stock trim. The stock block will hold up to being modded for 600 HP and the 400-500 range is easily achieved with shade tree bolt on mods.

Yeah it's a big car and a bit hefty but an extremely competent GT that can also hang in there in the twisties.

Still kicking myself for letting mine go.

That was my dream car in high school, though it was the original version.

A rich Asian kid at my high school (Naperville) had a black one with a Knight Rider light cut into the hood.

Just found out the reserve was $70K.

Obviously the seller was letting it go to feed his crack habit.

Ah, yeah, that would do it. The amazing thing to me was that a bunch of the others that went for what I thought was a reasonable price had miles in the 20-30k range.

Hah! Yeah, he was hoping for a crazy market. The miles are too high and his hopes are a bit unreasonable.

I haven't seen the VR4 Spyder go for $70K (except for original sticker) and that model is the Holy Grail of 3000 GT's in terms of collectible cars.

Isn't BAT a place to sell only? I have not seen anything on there that was priced reasonable.

Don't know about you, but buying a car that has a few flaws isn't an issue to me - then fix it myself and have the same OOOOH / AAAAH for the fraction of the price.

I do like to watch BAT for inspiration though!

Same here...it just depresses me to see what some of the models that I have owned/driven are now going for $$. Look at low VIN# 1971 Datsun 240Zs in good shape....I never should have sold.

So true!

I've never driven one of these GTs but would love some seat time in one.
