I don't eat them much anymore,

But is "Oh Henry" still the best bar ever made?

billybek 12-02-2019 08:35 AM

I like the minis from Halloween.

More a Payday man myself.

I've almost totally given up on those kinds of things. After some time they're not all that inviting.

Every now and then I just gotta have a Snickers bar. Not often, maybe 2 or 3 a year. I also have a soft spot for Chunky.

As a 16 to 20 year old I ate a lot of candy bars. I guess I switched to preferring salty greasy things like pizza, Doritos or nuts that goes with beer as my tastes changed. I have not had a regular candy bar in many decades. I will eat a "fun size" candy bar on occasions that someone has them on a counter or at Halloween time when they are everywhere.

I used to tease my old boss. The stereotype of the boss with a bottle of good Bourbon in his desk was not his thing. He had a big bag of M&M peanuts in his lower desk drawer.

Eating a Snickers (which must be frozen first) is a three-part process:
1) Outside chocolate coating nibbled carefully
2) Nugget disassembled with machine process down the line
3) Peanut/caramel eaten gradually, savoring every bite

I used to eat a frozen snickers every day. We had a liquid nitrogen in the lab and we would stick Snicker bars on forks and freeze then in a few seconds.
It’s easier list the candy bars I don’t like.
Mars
Done.

Nothing personal, but if an adult man “nibbles” on a snickers bar like that near me, I will get up and leave.
Just reading about it, irritated me.

Sorry john, again, nothing personal, you just described one of my biggest pet peeves.

When money is no concern, you gotta go Belgium chocolate! or Swiss!

Nothing personal taken friend. Just my OCD procedure.
Haven't had one in many years actually.
(and I would agree with that public part. Don't want to look at that either.)

However if you are on a long and tiring drive, consider grazing slowly on an apple to stay awake over a few more hours.
It seems to work just as well as coffee.

As the decades pass, and the medical issues come along, one finds that there are many things one used to do.

Candy bars are among those many things.

Mounds is the go to for cheap dark chocolate. But more pricey ( grown up ) dark chocolate can be had - I love it!

Heath Bar....or nothing.

And soda pop.

Heath Bar rules.

Honorable mentions: Chunky, Twix, Milky Way.

yellowperil 12-02-2019 01:29 PM

I have a couple more favs. Crispy crunch and from a long time ago, Virginia bars.

The Virginia bar was real simple, just milk chocolate and nuts. Yum yum.
