Make sure your name is spelled correctly on all documents at closing. After 10 years of ownership I just got the county records fixed last week. I often wanted to decline paying the property taxes which were addressed to "some other guy."

Don't you have a copy of the purchase offer? Take a look. Somewhere there should be a time period the offer remains open for consideration. The problem you have if your offer doesn't have an expiration (would amaze me if it doesn't) is that you're locked into this offer until the sellers decide to let you out of it. When I was a Realtor I always made sure my offers were open for no longer than 24 hours and I always presented the offer to the sellers with the listing agent.

Last night we told our guy to make another offer for a few $ more and put a time limit on it. The offer was accepted this morning.

We have the contract and now so does our lender. I've requested an inspection with Pazuzu's inspector (thanks, Mike). We're pretty stoked.
