Roku Ultra issue

I have 4 Roku premieres and 1 ultra.

Only have the issue with the Ultra

When I get home from work and turn on the TV that uses the Ultra, TV screen is blank-and says no signal

So I have to unplug the Ultra to reboot and then it works

I have had the Ultra 3 weeks and every day has been the same. I really regret getting this

Anyone experience this and know the fix?

Switch Roku units and see if the symptoms follow the black box.

If a good box is ... okay in that location, return the questionable unit and get another to try.

I am having a similar problem with a regular Roku. Probably the box .

I've had a Roku 4 come out of the box unable to capture even the strongest wifi signal (which drove us crazy for 2 hours, trying to figure out what *we* were doing wrong...). I think they have a 1% failure, 99% kick butt rate.

Can sometimes confirm whether it's your wi-fi signal or Roku's circuitry by using a long or very long Cat5 cable from your modem. Alternately, confirm using a wi-fi and/or hardwire hookup at a friendly house. Promise them you won't mess up their system.

How old is the box? There was an email sent out that older boxes were being phased out. I don't know what boxes are included but you might check that.

Try changing sources on the TV away from the Roku then back to the Roku.

My one Fire TV box does this, I turn on the TV no signal, change sources then change back and boom it is suddenly there.

I think sometimes just turning on the TV does not trigger the HDMI port correctly. I am not sure, I only know doing that fixed the problem. It is a George Jetson problem, I have to hit a button twice now. :D

Ever since I posted this thread, the problem stopped. No idea why as I didn’t do anything yet but thanks for the ideas

If it happens again, and it probably will, follow Jims5543's advice - that's what we do.

Our Tivo and Roku connected TV does the same thing. It is the HDMI connection with the TV, not necessarily the device.

Is it a Vizio TV?

It’s a new Sony x900f

Bigtoe32067 12-13-2019 08:17 AM

Oh that’s the problem. With the proliferation of cheap TVs nowadays, it’s not use to a nice expensive one.
