Help - longer distance driver service

Trying to help my parents visit my family in Grand Rapids, they live in Madison. Every time they make the 6 hour trip through Chicago area with their two dogs they’re frazzled.

There must be a nice van service I can hire. Anyone know about such? Thinking there must be a market for this as alternative for folks where flying really doesn’t work.

Muskegon is about a half-hour from Grand Rapids.
Would need to rent a car in Muskegon.

When they drive thru Chicago...are they taking the Chicago Skyway? (the signs and gps will send them that way)
If so..they should stay on I-94 all the way to 80-94 and then east.
No tolls and a lot less hectic.
Only a few miles further than taking the Skyway.

Stop at some hotel an hour away, and have a good rest.
Go through on a Sunday morning.
I try to do that with Atlanta (I've had a near accident every single time).

Or bypass and take 290/53/355 due south to 80, then head east to Gary and the 31.
It's two sides of a small triangle, but they won't get stuck in downtown Chitown.

It looks like there is an Amtrack direct to GRapids but they'd have to go north or to Milwaukee to a station.

Pets might be a problem unless there are rolling cages. Not very comfortable and maybe a layover.

Avoid Chicago and go across the lake.
