Funny..when in High Screwall, (graduated in '61) I loved VW...yet for some reason, never bought one. Only Porsche when it came to air cooled.

Yes,while stationed in Germany in 1972, had a '66 squareback and a '67 bus.
My woods buggy is titled as a '67 Volkswagon.... |

1963 Baja Bug 1966 Baja Bug 1959 Convertible Bug 1950 Bug I need to add an old bus to the list some day. |
Back in '72 I was looking at buying a '67 VW Beetle from Beverly Hills VW. They wanted $800 for it if I remember correctly. While pondering whether or not I should buy from a dealer, I ran into an old girl friend. When I told her what was going on, she asked what ever happened to my BMW/Porsche dream?
That weekend I found a '68 BMW 1600 w/25k miles on it for $1600. Ended up buying that car instead of the VW. Looking back, I'm glad I did. I drove that little BMW all over the place (120k miles) finally selling it 9 years later for $1500. |
3 Beetles actually, Black 66, Red 70 and Green 73.

First car was a 63 Bug. This was my last. 1968 Zink C4 FV. Raced for several years and sold it to a guy who still runs it in our club.

‘73 Bus/Westphalia was my first air cooled car. Had only 34k miles when I bought it in 1990.

Many bugs and one bug convertible, a ‘61 bus, 2 Karman Ghias - none newer than 1967. After 40 VW less years, as of last January I have a ‘65 bug again.

What vintage? I’ve old air and watercooled cars!
It’s a sickness, but damn it’s fine |
White 63 Ragtop Beetle. Still have it.

|
Awesome car, awesome pic' Embraer.
|
Thanks! I bought that car from a kid for $1500. Lots of deals to be had in the desert of SoCal
|
73 standard beetle that I bought and restored for my first car, that was 22 years ago so the car was 25 years old at the time and I would have called it a vintage VW. Since then two wasserboxers have joined the herd, not what I would usually call vintage but 30 and 33 years old at this point. The 89 doka tristar remains my daily driver.

64 bug
68 bug 72 ghia |
I don’t consider it vintage, but we had 74 Super Beetle. It went through hell and was still driving when sold. Easy to work on.
