Where do superman's clothes go?

I must admit, I'm ignorant on this.

When Superman changes clothes, does he have some magic super powerful way of storing the clothes he changed out of?

Or are they just discarded?

If that suit is dry cleaned, isn't it common to have personal labels so that your suit isn't lost?

What keeps his identity secret if anyone can just pick up his clothes and read the tags?

If he compresses them there would have to be some form of alien technology to decompress them wrinkle free and ready to go.

Aerkuld 12-18-2019 09:25 AM

If he's so fast why doesn't he just nip home and change?

Fly Mach .86 12-18-2019 09:27 AM

Now he doesn't even have a phone booth to change in.

I was a big Superman comic fan as a kid. I had stacks of the 12 cent Superman comics. They all went into the trash when we moved to Hawaii. :(

As I remember the explanation for his street clothes was he would "super" compress them into a pea size pellet, and tuck them somewhere either under his belt, or on the roof of the phone booth. They did not bother to explain how he uncompressed them, and ironed them back into normal looking clothes.

The never explained how he got a hair cut, or clipped his fingernails either.

Bill Douglas 12-18-2019 09:48 AM

I dunno, I never trusted the guy. I was a Spiderman kid.

This.
For a dude who can fly it’s not a big deal to compress your suit and stuff it down the front of your shorts.

lgb240 12-18-2019 09:54 AM

More importantly Supergirl....and that she never finds her street clothes again!

Exactly why I was a Batman fan, completely believable. He relied on a faithful sidekick and specialized equipment.

You mean like a third nipple in a suit so tight that it would surly show like he was cold ?

As I understand, he was taken from a little pod spacecraft.
The amount of home technology he would have is very limited.
I suppose clothing that survives decompression was one of them.

If a typical business suit and compressed it to the size of a pea I'm not sure it would decompress for me back into a suit.

As the cover of mad that LeakySeal posted illustrates, superman's clothes are just a funny humorous subject.

My wife went to a big software conference. When she returned one of the many bits of swag given out was a small bricked size object. She gave it to me, as it was a t-shirt. Just pull off the plastic wrapper and shake a few times and sure enough a t-shirt that was plenty big enough to fit me. A long way from a suit to a pea, but it was compressed a lot. And really really wrinkled. One trip through the washer and dryer and it was 100% normal.

The same place nudists keep their car keys?

BK911 12-18-2019 11:08 AM

Why did superman just stand there with bullets bouncing off of him, but duck when the bad guy threw the gun?

I always wondered why those people got all excited when they looked up in the sky. At first they thought it was a bird. Then a plane. Why all the fuss about a bird or a plane?

Herd mentality.

I used to do add content for 3d games long ago.

One thing I would do when traveling is take pictures of dirt so I could use them as texture references..

You'd be amazed at how many people come over to try to see what was so important that I had my camera out taking pictures of. Not seeing it, eventually they'd ask.

"Dirt.", I'd reply. SmileWavy

What happens if Wonder Woman's costume is at the dry cleaner and she goes into her spin?

Will she come out buck ass nude?

GE hit $10B in sales in the Power Gen Market in 2000, and all we got was one of those T-Shirts. I still have it, in the postcard pack. It is far more useful as an explanation as to why I left, than as a T-shirt.

I heard/read somewhere that Superman had a pouch in the underside of his cape.

KFC911 12-18-2019 02:23 PM

Does Superman hang his dresses next to his capes?

Inquiring minds....nah...nevermind...

GH85Carrera 12-18-2019 02:29 PM

Just don't tug on Superman's cape, don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger.

And don't mess around with Jim.

LWJ 12-18-2019 02:41 PM

The answer was in Deadpool: "Prison Wallet."

.

It might not for you, but you are not Superman.
If you put on a cape and jumped off a tall building could you fly? No, because you are not Superman.
If you pulled a small pill out of your shorts and spit on it would it turn into a well pressed suit? No because you are not Superman.
If you were seen in the Walmart parking lot searching your shorts for a small pill would security assume you are just Superman looking for his suit? I don’t know, but I would love to be there.

legion 12-18-2019 07:16 PM

I thought he just left the clothes at home, at least when going to the county fair.

Yep, that’s the correct answer.

Ah, so super spit is the mechanism of turning a suit compressed to the size of a pea back into a full size suit?

My post was more directed at the suit needing to be super, but perhaps super spit works to.

A similar question applies to how his costume holds up to the heat of atmospheric re-entry when he re-enters from orbit. I wonder if his super outfit was stowed in the pod and is alien fabric?

In the comics, his suit was made from the blankets he was wrapped in on the space ship that brought him here. His Earth mom had to unravel the threads of the blanket and then weave them back into the suit. His suit is super of course. It can withstand the volcanoes, bullets and even the interior and surface of the sun, just like Superman.

Thanks. Seems the logical path that alien man from a pod would also be clothed in alien clothing from the pod.

GH85Carrera 12-19-2019 06:37 AM

In the movie Man of Steel, they changed a lot of back story, and his Superman suit a LOT.

flatbutt 12-19-2019 07:39 AM

I think Superman was a nice guy and left his clothes behind for the homeless.

I have Star Wars books that do nothing but provide details like the number of repulsorlift generators that suspend cloud city, or how many storm troopers are stationed on a star destroyer.

People like me enjoy this stuff.

And....there are a lot of comical ideas for things that might go wrong with superman changing clothes instead of just staying superman.

GH85Carrera 12-19-2019 02:16 PM

And all he has to do is put on glasses and NO ONE ever knows Clark Kent is really Superman!

Steve Carlton 12-19-2019 02:21 PM

Walmart glasses will do that.

Well these did a great job of disguising the sex machine wearing them.
