Another Diorama.....just in time for the Porsche LA Lit Meet

Finished (maybe not) another diorama and will have it at the Lit Meet this Saturday with a few more and a lot of scale models.

Stop by and say hi!

Thanks Marc!

Oil stains are easy. I have a bottle of brush cleaner that has a lot of sediment in the bottom and I just dip a pick all the way in and drip it here and there!

I would never take my Porsche to that guy he is too disorganized for a kraut. A real Teutonic personality would have his Werkstadt as clean as a whistle where you could eat off the floor. Where not a nut, bolt or washer is out of place.

Ohhh this a diorama...a model....i thought it was real.

To paraphrase Ned Beatty in Deliverance, that diorama is sumpin' special!

(Don't let anyone from OSHA see it, they'll shut you down for not lashing the gas bottles, ha ha!)

For some odd reason, a month or so ago, Rob’s dioramas popped into my head and I started thinking that getting back into building model kits to pass time during the long winters once I retire might be a lot of fun.

I plan on retiring in less than four years and not knowing what the state of model kits might be then, I started buying some of what were my favorite brand 30 years ago- Testors. Well, I think It might of got out of hand once I hit eBay.

I now have almost 30 kits! Looking at them closer, there is a lot of variance in how involved they are, some have as few as 50 pieces, a few have over 200.

The stack on the left are the most involved, the right, the least.

My dad first taught me a few lessons about patience when I started doing model cars. Most of which I forgot when doing real cars.

I used to put models together in my pre-teen years, and have also thought of trying some new models now that I am approaching retirement with more more eye towards better quality of kit, and DIY finish. My thoughts are to build cars that I have had in the past...same model, color, wheels, trim, and doing some custom work to make my collection.

AMAZING work RKT, I have no illusions of doing the kind of work you are capable of...very nice !

Very detailed...even partially disassembled 911 engine, transmission, 4 cam. Wow is right! How long does something like that take to build?
