THIS! Life thrives on conflict and challenge. That's where it shines. When it has everything it needs- it invents its own conflict.

Who was it that said the strong shall escape into space? Maybe this is the one thing which will keep our species from extinction?

From my limited point of view it appears to me as though our species is heading in the same direction as Universe 25. Providing distractions prolonged the inevitable. I feel the need to delve more deeply into this man's research. It is rather telling that his attempts to right the ship were not funded and he retired early.

I know my sanity comes from alone time on my farm, maybe jumping on the dirt bike, and riding farm lanes. My job is as a solo prototype engineer in my own lab, where I test/build rubber automotive products.

My family, and I went shopping in Columbus (Ohio) yesterday, and did the usual IKEA, Costco, outlet malls, and ModPizza. We all had a good time, bur were ready for some quiet time. I was so ovewhelmed with the scurry, and excess people, I slept for 10 hours this morning...I commonly refer to this as being "peopled out" !

I am currently sitting in a dark room (no lights) while typing this, listening to the fire crackle in my woodstove.....peace !

The human body was designed to work. To strive for something.

Hunter/gatherers had to work in order to eat.
Agriculture improved human life immensely, but still required copious amounts of work.

With everything imaginable at your fingertips on a cell phone, there comes an emptiness that longs to be filled.
That's why there is so much angst on college campuses today. Life is too easy, so we create "hardships" and demand change.

A life of leisure is not a life of fulfillment.

Our Western culture has us asking ourselves "Am I successful?" How do I look next to my neighbors?

But deep, deep down, the real question is "Am I significant?"

When one has no purpose in life, one remains unhappy.

When one has no porpoise in life, one remains unflappy.
