This car is a great investment

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2007-ford-shelby-gt500-5/

Yep, I can hear the salesman say it now. So, back in 2007, some poor guy believed, bought the car, and stored it away. He just knew that in 10-12 years somebody would offer far more than he paid for it.

2007 Shelby GT500 with only 900 miles on the clock. In a couple of days, somebody might end up with a nice driver after sorting things out. First thing I'd suggest is new tires...the original tires are downright dangerous.

I'll guess it will be a final bid of 35K. Anybody else?

I'm with the comments section - it looks pretty scruffy for only 900 miles...

If I had the money to piss away, I'd buy it just to drive to Cars & Coffee. Let the spectators beware!

Yeah, I'd go as high as $35,000

The car would have really benefited from a professional detail, and some really good photos.

If it only gets bid up to 35, this is most likely going to be RNM.
Pretty sure he's hoping for a windfall to help him greet the new year, but so far it seems like the response, at least judging by the comments, is pretty tepid.

Great comment from the post...

"My buddy had one of these. Started with a GT which he modded to make it like a Shelby…..supercharger/stripes/wheels. He then traded that for a real Shelby identical to this one. Then the mods started on that, essentially ruining the daily driveablility and making it a track rat. After realizing the car was useless for much more than track work he traded it on a 911."

Scruffy indeed. It’s certainly in great condition, but someone just used their hand to wipe of some surfaces and went “click”.

That’ll hurt the gavel.

A good detail would help it.

Does the 5.4 hurt it? I assume by 2007, the exploding spark plug issue was resolved.

I was surprised how much rust there was on the tear axle.

Evidently the Ford bean counters thought painting the rear axle was too costly. My '09 Bullitt Mustang had exactly the same surface rust in the same places when new.

I thought of doing something about it. After thinking about it a bit more, I decided screw it... it's only a Ford. A driver, not a garage queen or cars and coffee show piece.

I'd hope whoever ends up with this Shelby thinks the same.

My buddy won one of those on a raffle ticket . The town of Zelienople Pa., raffles off a new car every year. Our buddy won , but did not want the car. He sold it to another friend at a pretty sweetheart deal.
The guy tracks and drag. races it. First guy spent the money on hookers and blow

that probably includes 300 miles plowing trough cars and coffee crowds holding coffees , hotdogs , hamburgers, and kids with dirty diapers.

Storing cars in a garage without a dehumidifier allows for condensation when the humidity climbs resulting in weird rust like that. A local guy came into possssion of a VW bug that was driven home from the dealership and parked for 40-ish years. Same problem.

It's amazing how these two things done well can double the price of a car.

The other problem is that they built a bunch of GT500s, most of which are low mileage garage queens. They also been eclipsed in HP bragging rights several times over. $35k is big money for one of these.

I had a 2007 that I really enjoyed, I actually liked it better than the newer 2011 GT500 and the 5.0 based Roush Stage 3 cars that I owned. The 2007 is a smaller car than the newer models, has better steering and feels more nimble. Yes it’s still a cruiser but it’s a really enjoyable one. I’d have another.

Looks very dated inside out and it has the issue that to most people it just looks like an 10 year old Mustang.

If I was to get another car for the track, I was thinking 996TT, C5 Corvette or 07-10 Mustang.

Mustangs and C5’s cost less and parts are cheap, but I’m not sure of endurance, like the 996TT.

Matt gets it as I do. Many here don't. It's NOT a status car. It's NOT a high performance car. May gave been hot back in it's day, but no longer. It's definitely NOT a sought after collector car.

So those looking for any of the above should move on.

What is it? A very enjoyable driver that should give many miles of relatively trouble free driving and a car that is still quicker than many.

Well, very enjoyable if you like the look of spoilers and stripes on a street car. I don't. Not a fan of the "boy racer" look. It's not only Ford guilty of that...Porsche has done it's share as well.

That kind of thinking...for a premier legacy brand-name revival offering.....shiver...

It doesn't look half bad to me actually. I'd be a mark. So what.

If a buyer wants it, starts comparing the entire spectrum from scratch, and compares it to any other lesser daily drivers, it doesn't look half bad.
Buy it. Drive it.

It only takes a few minutes, and some elbow grease to polish components under the hood, and remove stains from the seats. No reason for rubber hoses that LOOK like they are 13 years old...a little well placed ArmorAll would do wonders, and make the whole car look cleaner/well maintained.
