McQueens Bullitt car

Sold for a big whack of money, more than I got, but I was a bit surprised it wasn't more, actually.

I agree. Even the most flattering photos of the car make it look like something that was dragged out from some hoarders garage. (Oh wait, it kinda was).

Lots of spare cash floating around out there right now....wish I knew how to get my net into the stream...

I think it is the newest issue of the Hagerty magazine that lists the normal sale price of a bunch of McQueen related items and then the sale price of the ones he owned, it is interesting.

$3.4 million worth of memorabilia...already erroneous info on the car's history posted here. Not the Mexican junk yard car. That one may be the totaled car used in the jump scenes. Some say authentic, some say may not be. Two cars used in filming...this one, definitely authentic, was in private hands after the movie. Hidden for years...at first in plain sight. Then tucked away from prying eyes. That owner died, his son auctioned it off.

$3.4 million

I may be wrong but I thought the owner said he would never sell the car.

Old man died in 2014 and his son is selling it. 3.4 million ... I know what I'd do.

I loved Steve MeQueen movies as a kid, a mans, man. Great movie! I just can't get my arms around the value of something because it was owned by an actor.

I wouls sell the car too - It's going into some kind of collection/museum - and I'm sure there is a profit to be made from it.

The car looks ****ing awesome.

For some, $3mm is a small price to pay for 50 years of care taking a iconic piece of auto history.
The most legendary movie car of all time.

Leave it to predictable bitter old car guys to crap all over it.
Great time to sell, because in a few years, all the Bullitt geezers will be dead.

You are talking out of both sides of your mouth. Most here ARE the Bullit geezers.

But that is an excellent point on timing of the sale, I am sure the owner reflected on that.
