Software Install Question

I purchased a cheap laptop that does not have a disc drive. I have a valid Corel Wordperfect X8 installation disc to install the software, but obviously can't install it directly to the laptop. Since I am cheap, I would rather not purchase an external disc drive to install it and I was thinking I could either install the software to my desktop PC desktop or to a connected peripheral hard drive that I have, in some fashion, so I could then download it to the laptop.

When I attempt to download it to my desktop PC, it sees the WP Suite on my PC and asks me if I want to replace, repair, etc., the WP software on my PC.

I'm not a computer genius, but was wondering if I opened the WP disk to see the files, is there a way to save it to my desktop or external HD so I can then download it to my cheapa$$ laptop? Thanks!

When you insert the disk, the autorun takes over and tries to install it. Use My Computer to view drive and copy the files to a USB stick, and you should be able to install from that.

Wow! Wordperfect!

I was a diehard Wordperfect guy for a long time, but I eventually had to move to Word.

Or make an iso of the disc, copy to thumbdrive, mount and install.

Widebody, thanks! Do I copy each file into a new file on the USB stick as they appear when I open and look at the WP installation disc?

Yep, WP. I normally use Word, too. Some of my clients use WP so I have to have it...

I tried the ISO thing, but I don't see it when I right click. My computer is probably too old, I guess

When you say disk drive do you mean optical like CD/DVD?

You can copy the files from the CD/DVD to the flash drive and install from there, or make your desktop CD/DVD drive shareable on the network and install that way too. We have done that a few times with my wife's gaming laptop that has no optical drive.
