Grand Tour season 4

Don't bother watching the first episode. Never thought I'd say that. Show was terrible. Probably worst in the entire history of the three gentlemen.

I thought they were completely through with the Grand Tour?

Its an evolved version of Grand Tour where they only go on big adventures.

It was really bad in my honest opinion. Probably 10 minutes of decent footage. I can only hope that they realized how bad it was before filming the next one and made appropriate changes.

This is not meant to be a political post but Jeremy seems to like making fun of Donald Trump.

He does it often and I find it annoying. Leave the politics out and maybe more people would tune in.

Jeremy has made fun of America and Americans since the early days of Top Gear, it’s part of his act. I wouldn’t get all worked up over it.

And that's just from season one of grand tour. I was looking for the reference to the truck drivers he upset in England on Top Gear some time ago. Seems like every episode has at least some reference to some British political party, Brexit, or some labor union.

Jerry Lewis was close friends with the Kennedy family. JFK told him not to get involved in politics because it would cost him half of his fans.

Watched it last night. I wasn't impressed. It felt like it was lacking something from the other adventure episodes.

I was hoping the change to boats would have been more entertaining.

I thought it was Ok....just OK.
I applaud them for trying something different...or at least used different vehicles, and they always nail the cinematography. After 20 years or so of recycling the same recipe, it must be a challenge to be creative and fresh even with multi million dollar budgets. By default, everyone expects spectacle each episode. My bar is pretty low, so came away entertained for 90 minutes. There's a lot worse TV out there to watch.
They should mix in a few documentary clips like they did on Jim Clark and Lancia in past episodes. They do that very well.

^^^ the Vietnam War clips they mixed in were the only good parts of the entire show I thought.

I thought it was pretty funny. Didn’t have the same magic as their last trip to vietnam, but it was a fun watch.

It’s not serious tv, isn’t supposed to be. But it’s good for some laughs and easy watching.

I agree that I would love to see them do more motor sports documentaries. Every segment I’ve seen has been fantastic.

Is it me, or do they seem to like being in SE Asia?

The boats trudging through the S. China Sea was ridiculous. When Hammond or Clarkson's boats landed after catching air, I could feel it in my back and kidneys.

I hope not. Every episode can't be a winner. I'm sure the next installment will be better.

Yeah, this new show opener was a bit of a snooze-fest. A couple laughs and good visuals (especially in 4k) made it watchable. Not sure what the problem was with the previous iteration, but I suspect the change/shut-down had something to do with being too similar to the original Top Gear format (Jeremy did get in a jab at Top Gear at the very end of the episode). I am sure they will figure it out, but it will be hard to beat the the original (and previous) focus/format. YMMV...
