Watched it yesterday. He had amazing talent. For the few races he ran, he had a very high win ratio.

Kudos to Carolla and company for telling his story.

Yeah, its a great film. Up there with the Paul Newman doc.
One of the best incar videos ever is his drive at Del Mar after he flatted, came back through the entire field. There's a shorter version of the video below on youtube as well.

Adam Corolla has been involved with a lot of very good auto racing documentaries. He has some cool cars too, racecars that he actually vintage races, which would be about the greatest thing ever as a hobby. He probably got the idea for the first movie so he could get a ride in the car. Or maybe buy the car for the movie, so it is an expense...

I have to call my account, too early on a Saturday, damn

Watched it last night. Really good story and lots of good footage. A shame this guy was a hot head and used the color of his skin to excuse his behavior. That aside, it was a really good flick.

Did they mention that he walked away from an Indy car ride at the Indy track because he was scared? BTW, I don't hold that against him. Might have been a very smart decision.

The movie talks about two factors: 1) the windscreen was mounted too low so he had significant buffeting on his helmet; and 2) the engineer gave him no information about car setup. I would say wise instead of scared.

I recall a little tussle he instigated at Portland International...

I watched it, and it's good to relive those days, and get some insight that wasn't always written about in the racing press. I always liked Willy T. I assumed he got top rides because he was fast. His mouth never bothered me. (Remember, this is the era of the Whittington's and the Paul's and the Lanier's. Lots of weird in those days!) This was a decent deep dive into his life, but one thing that bugs me about Carolla's doc's is the many times the script doesn't match the pictures. He'll be talking about PIR, but the image on the screen is Watkins Glen. He'll be describing a Formula Atlantic driver's meeting but the picture we see is from a Nascar drivers meeting. I know that might sound nit-picky, but as a lifelong racing fan, these kinds of preventable mistakes dilute the quality of the documentary.

Just watched it. The back stories were worth it.

Thumbs up.

Parmalat put Elio de Angelis in the Brabham. Now none of them are exactly household names. Dumb.

Got his autograph at a Watkins Glen race in the mid 80s, was happy to chit chat. Always liked him.
