Seriously though, at my last house we had 8000 sq ft of lawn and the soil was very conducive to gophers. My rottie was destructively trenching the place trying to get them so I decided to teach her how to team hunt gophers and it became a fun game every spring as we collected dozens of them.

She would alert-bark whenever there was a new interloper with fresh diggings. I would bring over the garden hose and run water down while also feeding in the pile of fresh dirt. This would raise the water level in the tunnels and always bring the varmint to the surface for a breather hole. She would hear them coming to the surface and point, I would put water on the spot and up popped the gopher. She would grab it, give it the death bite, and place the kill at my feet waiting for praise and a treat. The whole process usually took 5-10 minutes and was 95% effective. Only a very rare time did a gopher escape the team hunt. This was a fun game we played for many years during gopher season and she probably got 200 of them. Best dog ever!

This is what we do. Though our beagle isn't nearly as good at it as our old lab. Our current lab loves to play but she goes full Lenny on them and they don't last as playmates very long, which works for us as well.

Sometimes our old lab wouldn't wait for me and would snag them on her own. Probably 2/3rds of all of them were killed by her alone and the other third by me spotting one and shooting it or using the hose with her.

In CA we would just put a hose on the truck and the other end down the hole and let it idle. Kept the yard clean for 4-5 months.

Wow. I bought parts for my rodenator from them about two years ago.

I've used several methods, traps, water down the hole and my border collie. I've reduce the population significantly but i still have them. It's a weekly task to set traps and check them every few days later.

I’m sure their liability insurance was crazy! 🤣🤣🤣.


Wouldn’t be that hard to recreate with a weed burner and a grill igniter though honestly....

Sid. That's the avenue I tried to take. I put together a nice sort of recreation using two weed burners, welding valves, back stop valves, etc. The problem was I couldn't get the gas mixture right. I tried to adjust it with the valves, but it wouldn't work. I reinstalled the orifice from one of the weed burners on the gas side, but haven't retested it. I understand the gas/air concentration has to be between 2.15% and 9.2% gas for the mixture to ignite. Otherwise nothing will happen. I don't think I'd start a company with a product like this considering how lacking in common sense some people are.

don't know about that, but my garbage collector has picked up four or more live gophers at one time in gal milk jugs. The compactor quiets them down quickly.:)

Last time I had gophers I chased them with bombs, water etc for months. Got the gum, put two sticks down two different holes and haven't had a gopher since.

Don't know a lot about what the gopher eats but when you eliminate the food source for the mole, the mole leaves. They eat grubs. Kill the grubs with a bag of grub kill pellets. I used a spreader and did my lawn and my neighbor's. It takes a month for the granules/pellets to get in the soil and kill the grubs.
I tried everything suggested on the internet. A landscaper/friend came by for a visit and I showed him the mole mounds. He just said to go buy a bag of grub killer. It worked but unfortunately the neighbor two houses down now has to deal with that little bastard.
