bug bombing gophers?

anyone here try using room foggers on gophers and/or moles? ive read a number of threads here on gopher wars in doing a search and garnered some additional knowledge but wondering the groups though on bombing them?

had used those gopher gassers, but the great state of CA has now outlawed them so they are unavailable. I am aware of road flares and may go that direction but have a number of the room foggers laying around that I am considering using. thoughts?

never had gophers when I lived in the burbs, but since moving to the mountains I am being overwhelmed and am at my wits end. ive gotten a couple with traps over the last 5 months, but they have been very ineffective to this point. ive also tried the beeping things you bury and that is only driving the dog bat***** crazy with the tilting of the head from side to side as they go off in a chorus beeps. they are really ruining the sound of the hills...

Those things that look like a M80 explosive? They never worked for me. I bought gopher pellets. They are inserted into their tunnels with a spike like applicator. Spin the little handle to leave a pile of pellets. It worked for a while. If they don’t ingest enough to kill them it only makes them sick and then they won’t touch the pellets again.

Plug up as many holes as possible, run a hose from the exhaust pipe to the tunnel complex, start the car and let it run for a while. Carbon dioxide settles, will fill the tunnels up. Carbon dioxide can also be generated a number of ways, aside from car exhaust.

Plastic gallon milk jug filled with water.
My place was over-run with gophers when I moved in. Totally eliminated them in one season

You're living in the "mountains". Use a weapon of your choice, should be fun as target practice.

Spare the snakes.

Keep a water filled jug handy. When seeing a gopher run into a hole...stand the jug upside down into the hole. They stupidly run upstream right into the jug.
Cap the jug and leave it in the garbage.

same method...but a single gallon jug works better. They squeeze right thru the small spout.

It's not so stupid to run upstream if you think about it.

I have major problems with gophers. I think I'll try the milk jug method. I've tried everything else. When you put a gas bomb in the tunnel, they just backfill at the first whiff. I've used the pellets with the spike applicator. They just push the pellets out of the hole. I've had decent success using a hose with a four hose manifold on the end. I'd have four shorter hoses hooked up and put each in a hole. I've had the most luck with a plain ole gopher trap. I attempted to make my own rodenator but couldn't get the fuel/air combo right. I'll do some more on that some time. I hate gophers.

I'm surprised that Captain Caveman doesn't just wack those with his club and then put the little bisches on a Ritz!

I don't think the foggers will work. After you trigger it, it only runs for a few minutes.

i was sitting here alone laughing out loud watching the video with the guy, the shepard and hose. that was good stuff.

i tried a single bomb late yesterday after posting this and unlike when placing traps the hole was not backfilled over night so it remains to be seen if it was effective. when the thing was running i did see it daylighting 7-8 feet away out another small vent hole which i promptly plugged up so that indicated the vapors are traveling the tunnels.

i too have used the posion pellets with little relief as well. spoke with my pops last night and he told me the farmer below his property uses a propane tank and rod to pump just the gas into the tunnel and has had some success this way. finds a tunnel, places the rod into it and pumps propane for 30-40 seconds. i may try this soon.

im reluctant to put much water into the tunnels as I believe they have made their way under the concrete patio which goes to the basement wall so the water will likely by pass the French drain that handles the lawn irrigation run off. I don't want to have water infiltration into the house by soaking the fill behind the wall.

ive got a few more bombs that I may blitzkrieg them with at a few different hole locations at the same time to see if that will work.

ill keep ya posted and may just have to try the water/dog/shovel whack approach...
