We are closing next week, 4/8. I wasn’t sure it was going to happen with everything going on. Originally we were set up to close on 4/8, and then close on our current house on 4/13. This would give me time to just move from one home to the other.

Then the people buying my home wanted to close on 4/20. Then I decided I didn’t want to take a chance on owning two homes currently, so I moved my closing to 4/21. Then I got a call yesterday that my buyers wanted to close on 4/7, so I said that was good for me, and moved buying the new home back to 4/8.

So now I’m moving stuff to storage and will have to Handle things twice, but with everything going on I didn’t want to take the chance on my buyers backing out and trying to sell my home with a looming recession coming on.

My quotes were all over the place. It’s going to cost $2200 for homeowners and around $1500 for flood.

The roof did have the current roof strap attachments, so that helped I guess, but it does cost more with the gables. When Charlie came thru it did lose the roof tiles, not sure of other damage.

Gulf access drives the price up a bit. The lot the house is sitting on is worth $175,000-$200,000, maybe more. Move inland and out of town, you can still buy lots for $3000 or less

Good for you. Fingers crossed it all goes through. We've been bugged by agents wanting to list our small apt. building for years. The market has been super hot here for residential investment property. We finally decided to list it but I'm guessing it will sit. I'll know more in a week or so. The good news if we keep it is that interest rates are great for our refi.

I was thinking rates would drop a little after the fed dropped down to zero. But I was wrong, I’m at 3.125 for 30 yr loan. So I’m still happy.

I’m assuming since the buyer moved the date up that it will go thru.

Well both deals went through, so I’m moving just a few things to the new house. We are basically going to live in one of the spare bedrooms while we have the rest of the house updated.

I’ve got the landscapers coming Friday along with the guy who power washes the roof. I’ve also got a call in to a contractor, and I need to call for the new dock and lift.

I wasn’t going to do it, but I guess since we are suppose to be locked down I’ll go ahead and paint the spare bedrooms and tear out the carpet. Along with many other small things that I keep noticing.

It’s been about 3 weeks now. The carpenter I hired to give me a hand worked about a day and a half. Haven’t seen him since, I haven’t paid him and his tools are still here.

Since I’m supposed to stay at home I have been doing a little painting, wireing, and a lot of demo work. I’ve filled 2, 20 yard dumpsters so far. The plumbers showed up Monday and have been cutting out the floor in the bathrooms, we are moving a few things around. I’m pretty much done tearing things out, I left the kitchen sink and dishwasher to make things a little easier on the wife.

We are making a little progress. The plumbers have everything roughed in, and I’ve got everything torn out that is going. I’ve got most of the interior walls painted except the kitchen and one spare bedroom. The master bath is coming along, I have some drywall work to do, I couldn’t get a pro, so I have been hanging and taping. There will be much repair work I’m sure.

The tile guy is pissed at the plumber, he wanted a adjustable drain in the shower, so he showed up the next day and put it in, but he stepped on one of his fresh tiles, He’s been pissed at him since. He had to pull it up and reset it, it only took a few minutes.

Things are busy down here, the tile guys have shown up everyday, including Saturday and Sunday, I need a break from them. They are all Italian and they brought there music with them and sing along.

Good to see that you are making progress and that you still have a beer fridge.
Beer and renos go well together after the power tools have been put away.

First time I have seen this post. The first thing I was going to comment on were those odd soffits in the kitchen and the cabinets hanging above the island. Looks way better now.

Hopefully in a few weeks the floors will be done and we can move some of our furniture in. I need to call the cabinet company and see where they are. The cabinets are supposed to be done, but I haven’t heard from them. Once the cabinets are in it will be a week or two before the countertops are installed.

My bank account is getting hit pretty hard, the wife spends most of the day ordering stuff.

Cabinets will not be in till July 16th. I’m not so much pissed at the date as not being informed. I could have left some of the kitchen installed since the tile guys will have to come back to finish the pool bath anyway.

The wife is definatly not happy.

The landscapers are suppose to start next week so that’s a plus.
