License Plate screw removal

Bought a Suburban for the wife. Trying to remove the dealer license plate on the front bumper. Its held on by some screws that have a hole in the center with not way to use a screw driver and or bit. Anyone dealt or roved something like this?

THat seems most likely to me, but without a pic, it's hard to say for sure.

I have used torx bits, Allen Wrenches and even a small slot head to try and get it to grab. However I'm not sure if this even has threads.

It is a rivet. Get a small punch and knock the center pin through. Catch it and reuse it.

It looks like a tamper proof torx screw. They are torx bits with a hole in the middle you can find them at most auto parts stores and harbor freight

Thanks guys. I m afraid if I drill it out that would damage the front bumper

a pair of side cutter pliers should do nicely.

Carefully cut the plate so that you can slide it away from the rivet. You how have a small gap to saw off the rivet. Not easy but can be done.

Agree. A close up of the screw would help. It looks partially stripped already. You’re still going to have screw holes in your bumper cover.

Yep, actual rivets. Looks like you're going to need a drill.

Take it back to your dealer and have them remove it.

Probably any dealer could do it. Maybe even a used car lot place.

When I bought my tdi new. The dealer installed the plate with metal self tapping screws. Lol
