Weinstein is a scumbag for whom I have no sympathy however his “victims” played the game looking to use him. It was a quid pro quo for sure.

These “metoo” women are hardly innocent and blameless victims. I won’t say “they had it coming” but they sure seem to have done a lot to ask for it.

I’m disgusted by Hollywood and the sleaze it produces - both culturally and as deliverables. I suppose I’m missing out on very little by not watching tv and / or going to the cinemas.

I saw him on TV yesterday hobbling out of the courthouse with a walker, like that's going to get him any sympathy.

I have to say I'm pretty disgusted seeing posts here in OT, PARF and FB saying they would do the same thing if they were Harvey and that the women he raped/abused were asking for it. The lack of integrity and honor in our fellow men is tragic. They are utter trash.

One or many reasons why it makes me sick when Hollywood types weigh in on social or political issues. The entire industry is a cultural cesspool.

If you do this, I'll do that.

Is that the same as if you don't do this, your career will die? I mean, that has to be the fear.

Serious question. I really don't know.

Look what happened to Cliff Robertson. It's not always about sex.

"In 1977, Robertson discovered that his signature had been forged on a $10,000 check payable to him, although it was for work he had not performed. He also learned that the forgery had been carried out by Columbia Pictures head David Begelman, and on reporting it he inadvertently triggered one of the biggest Hollywood scandals of the 1970s.[25] Begelman was charged with embezzlement, convicted, and later fired from Columbia. Despite pressure to remain quiet, Robertson and his wife Dina Merrill spoke to the press. As a result, Hollywood producers blacklisted him."

The guy is scum, no doubt about it but IMO there are a lot of men who would take advantage of women if they were in the same situation.
However that doesn't mean they would rape women.

What people do when no one is looking tells you a lot about their integrity. Most people have the minimum required to get by.

Most of the accusers didn't yet have a 'career' as such, but were allegedly hoping to establish one thru association with Weinstein. He came to find out that his lecherous old-school Hollywood ways just don't fly anymore...

Maybe some balance is due here. The casting couch is not a myth and everybody knows it.

I’ll bet there are hundreds of women out there who did stuff to get stuff and are silent.

So there’s trash on both sides.

This is a coward's position, not a man's with integrity.

Men set the rules of the game. Period. The have all the power in Hollywood. They can choose to use that power with integrity and honor, or they can use it for evil. Which kind of man do you want to be?

I'm mostly disappointed with other powerful men in Hollywood who knew about this and stayed silent, did nothing. They are as guilty as Weinstein.

Who here would stay silent. That's the question you want to ask yourself.

Bingo. Well written.

There are parallels throughout the business world and the military: It is not just Hollywood.

I never stayed silent.

Bravo!

So now the truth is cowardice?

DWBOX2000 02-26-2020 01:14 PM

Is the women in the Oprah picture a victim? It's just creepy.

I don't get how money makes men evil and women sell their pride. Using ones body for fame or fortune, I think I would rather live in a van down by the river.

Yes, it certainly is. Those with the means can even hire a 'coach' (usually a former convict) before starting their sentence to clue them in on prison life and prepare them for what's coming on the inside.

Not always when it comes to workplace quid pro quo.

A guy with honor may be whittled down across time by a hottie with a plan.

This is not defending the dirt bag.
