Acura NSX...1989

A nice write-up of the history of Honda's NSX
I still place it on my 'most wanted' list of cars. (with the m/t)

If I could have found a M/T one that was nice when I needed a car, one of these would be my current daily driver. Surprising how many were autotragic transmission

I think in that era...they thought most usa buyers were lazy and only wanted an a/t.
They were prob right. The times were just not right for the car.

GM. The word on the inside of the auto industry at the time was the NSX was truly evolutionary for the day. So much so they made a deal just before the car was actually made available to the public, had the first one in the country on their testing site which they promptly started looking over with a fine tooth comb.

They ripped off the door / trunk hinge designs as well as other cues and incorporated those into their higher end cars just a few years later.

^^^ Very interesting.
In that time period...it didn't seem to help them much.

Lots of replacement parts on them are not Honda-cheap. Rubber seals and that sort of stuff can be a bit pricey. It is like a Ferrari that never breaks down and the air conditioning works.

I clearly remember the year 2000, when I was looking at a used 1991 NSX vs. a new S2000, which were the same price at the time. I picked the S2000, when Honda was saying that they were only making 5000/yr for 2 years only. Made the wrong choice.

Cool cars that I liked, but they weren’t as fast as I thought they would be on the track.

Or maybe it was the drivers.

I really wish I'd bought when they bottomed out in value in the early 2000s. I like them a hell of a lot more than the new ones.
