Wow no one is talking about Brady yet?

In this pandemic overload I try to turn to sports to clear my mind, but there isn't any :)

But surely, I thought Brady leaving New England would have been high on the discussion list here...

Imagine him at LA or Pittsburgh :D

Shaun @ Tru6 03-18-2020 03:52 PM

He went to Tampa Bay just to push his TB12 stuff.

Crowbob 03-18-2020 03:52 PM

Who?

Wasn't that a TV show in the 60's?

911boost 03-18-2020 03:57 PM

I was very surprised to see that he went there. Must have been the guaranteed massive amount of $

cabmandone 03-18-2020 04:00 PM

I could be wrong here but I don't see Brady doing a Manning in Tampa.

stealthn 03-18-2020 04:01 PM

Tb, didn't know

30M a year but for how many years?

Maybe another deflate gate in FLA :D

Crowbob 03-18-2020 04:01 PM

Can we please keep it clean, Nick?

Sorry man...

RWebb 03-18-2020 04:02 PM

Now that he is out from under the Evil Cheating Influence of Bellibuttcheck, will Brady continue to be Shady?

stealthn 03-18-2020 04:04 PM

I predict a womanizing scandal (Bob, March 2020)

Norm K 03-18-2020 04:08 PM

He went to the division where he'll be facing the GOAT twice each season.

_

DonDavis 03-18-2020 04:16 PM

Read an interesting perspective on this.

Winston threw 30 int last season. TB threw 29 over the last 4 seasons.

Seems Tampa actually has some weapons on Offense.

Arians has skilz and Leftwich is improving.

If we have a season, I’ll be watching them for sure.

sammyg2 03-18-2020 04:17 PM

Tom Brady is dead to me now ;)

URY914 03-18-2020 04:45 PM

Winston is going to open a bakery now. All he'll be selling will be turnovers. :D;)

because of salary caps in NE, he was costing the team about $13 mil plus the $20 million salary they offered ($3 mil less than he got last year).
he said nope, I'm tired of being paid less than some ****ty QBs out there.
NE said best we can do, we're handcuffed with the salary cap deals we made last year.
On top of that they only offered him a one year contract cause he's so old and he took O'fense to that.

See the thing is this: Belechick makes those calls and he is NOT sentimental. I know, hard to believe.
He calls it like he sees it and does what is right for the team and has no problem saying adios to ANYONE.

Belechick realized that Brady is an injury risk and although he helps the team, he is actually worth MORE in trade than is he in keep.
So they put him up for highest bid and got a fish to bite.
Now they can use that $33 million/yr plus whatever tampa bay pays them to buy gooder younger top performers.

Remember this: the last few QBs NE had as back-up to Brady did really really well and won lots of games when Brady was out, and then got sold to other teams for big $$$$.
a couple of of em are still playing, one went to the superbowl last year iffn I recall correctly.
Belechick and co. can win with just about any QB.

Here are just some of his back-ups:

Drew Bledsoe (famous superbowl guy)
Damon Huard went to cheeeefs
Doug Flutie, inventor of the hail Mary
Matt Cassel, went 11-5 when Brady was hurt and went to cheeeefs also
Vinny Testaverde sounds awful familiar. Tampa bay maybe? ;)
Jimmy Garoppolo went to niners, done pretty good there so far
Jacoby Brissett went to colts and took over for the luck-y guy who bailed

URY914 03-18-2020 04:47 PM

Don't you know all New Englanders will end up in Florida sooner or later. ;)

pavulon 03-18-2020 04:50 PM

His final play as a Patriot...was a pick6. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...ys/men_ani.gif

sammyg2 03-18-2020 04:55 PM

And that's all he'll be remembered for

LOL. So true. I figured he was out of New England when he sold his house in Brookline last year.

Maybe he's going to the Bucs because he got tired of winning so much.

At his age, it’s gotta be about the arthritis.

cabmandone 03-18-2020 06:39 PM

Winston was sacked 47 times in 2019... Good luck Tom!!

Perspective: That's top 5 in the league with a younger, more mobile QB... Good Luck Tom!!

Jim Richards 03-18-2020 07:00 PM

He may also be in to Bingo.

All good points. But we should factor in Winston wrecking plays on his own.

Gotta be a bunch of sacks due to that.

TB’s presence alone will increase morale, which should = O-Line tightening up.

The only reason Brady survived in NE last season was due to a quick hitting passing game. Arians should be able to do that in Tampa since he's partly why Ben Roethlisberger has been in the league for as long as he has. But 5th most sacks for a mobile QB doesn't bode well for Brady unless they can get that quick hitting passing game going in Tampa. With LB and S positions seemingly getting bigger, faster.. every year, TB is gonna need to beef up that line and get a real threat at RB to take some heat off of Brady.

Joe Bob 03-18-2020 09:04 PM

Brady doesn't have the arm for the current Tampa offense, they're gonna a be a lot of changes, Lucy.

Tampa pays NE nothing. Brady is now a free agent with no contractual ties to NE. Rather, their inability to keep him results in a $13M cap hit.

You’re absolutely right about how BB manages his roster though. He has a price associated with each position on his roster. He’s cut or traded players many times before, moves that had people scratching heads but his system has worked for a long time.

Supposedly same offer from Tampa and Chargers.

Personally I think Tampa fans are about to learn that it wasn't Tom, it was the system.

mattdavis11 03-19-2020 04:52 AM

Who is the kicker in Tampa Bay? Must be a good one.

fify ;)

I've always wondered if TB was drafted someplace else, what kind of success would have had?

It really is about BB and the system he created.

Changing players that weren't producing ( or other distracting attributes ) and kept marching forward.

I've been a fan of BB for years, but more for to his postgame interviews and general treatment of the media. He never falls into their bs game of poking and prodding coaches.

In case ya'll forgot...

I predict more success for NE than TB. But that's hard to quantify. TB will be 43 and in a radically new setting.

NE is still doing what they do...next man up, keep moving forward.

Here's some nice examples of BB dealing with media.

Tom has long had a rep of burning defenses when they tried to blitz him, so he didn't get blitzed that often.
he recognized the defense and knew who was open and hit them quick. At least he did until he lost the Gronk.
Loosing him hurt that team more than any other player in recent memory. Gronkowski deserved at least one superbowl MVP and maybe even one league MVP IMO. He made Grady look good.

Grover go long.

That sounds right, I just heard that Brady came with a price tag to keep him from being franchised. Maybe just talk.

If I'm not mistaken Winston is also a free agent. Wonder how that will work out.
The redskins already said no thanks.
Someone speculated Winston to NE but I seriously doubt Bill would go for that.
His style is to snag a young obscure prospect and turn him into a performer.

Seahawk 03-19-2020 09:01 AM

I got a little taste of NFL success as a Niner fan. What the Patriots have accomplished is even mo’ better.

What I like most about Brady is that he knows it is a team game and gives his teammates appropriate credit.
