You used to count the minutes until that 3:10 school bell.
Now you wonder back what you got done this year besides putting on pants. This movie was made a third of a century ago: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1585263270.jpg |
^ I always liked that movie, but even when it came out, thought it would be more realistic if they were COLLEGE students, not highschoolers.
Anyways- I guess I am getting old. I am starting a #gofundme startup for my jorts: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1585264776.JPG |
When you’re caught eyeballing a pretty young thing and she catches you, giving you a dirty old man look.
|
When you get to where it doesn't stink when you take a dump, and you think to yourself, "Boy, my **** doesn't stink anymore." Some time later you figure out it's because you've lost a lot of your sense of smell.
|
When you watch your favorite groups/bands/singers on Youtube and realize they are in their 70s or dead.
|
...when you realize you've become invisible to those pretty young things.

Confirmed
I was at the Apple Store around Christmas time looking for a new tri-fold cover for my old iPad Air2. They don’t make covers for that model anymore. Young girl tending to me said I could buy a foldable keyboard/cover on-line. She went on to say “seniors like the keyboards better sometimes…” OUCH
A couple weeks ago at the outset of this Covid-19 distancing thing, I was at the grocery store getting basket coffee filters. I was in the express line with just that one item. The guy behind me, probably mid 40s, says “You’re brave old man” for venturing out just for coffee filters! Yep, I’m old and it’s been confirmed! On the flip side, I'm 59 with a full head of wavy hair, and I still get smiles from the ladies. I'll take the "wins" where I get 'em:cool: |
My last great boss was old by any standards, in his 90s. In his words he took "early retirement" at age 92.
Once he was in in 80s he learned being that age let you get away with a lot. He could flirt with pretty women, give them hugs, and no one felt threatened. The women all treated him like their harmless grandfather. He could say things to women that would get younger men in trouble. |

He was asked to leave.... women smiled at him but complained and threatened a harassment suit. Stupid behavior, especially these days. |

(me - I straighten up & try to suck my gut in) she then asks "Sir, do you happen to know what time it is?" Cheers JB |
^ More women were (no longer since Under house arrest) were smiling at me until I realized they were giving me a kindly grandpa smile rather than flirty smile.

Years ago a member here was talking about him and another guy (maybe Milt?) walking on the campus of a university. The guy walking with him commented that he wondered what the young women thought of guys his age walking around campus - to which he answered, "They don't even see you."

You are old when your kids have better sense than your parents.

Either way I try to be polite. No reason otherwise. Millennials onward will be facing a greater number of chaotic challenges that GenX and Boomers did not. |
As for the smiling ladies, I simply smile back. I don’t really get that from “girls” ie, <29, but more so 40s and 50s. The longer my hair the more smiles. My wife likes my hair long. In the vein of this thread, I don’t like my hair long because it’s just more work: I’m older and married (happy). I don’t really care enough about the smiling ladies to keep my hair long; I prefer it shorter because it’s way more convenient to me. It just happens to get long and then needs a cut.

This happened back in 05/06 and I would have been 40 or 41. My friends family owns a Korean restaurant and his 20 something sister worked there along with him. The food was really good so I went there all the time. Our other friends would go there to eat and flirt with her because she was hot. I'm only there for the food and to see my pal. He was busy so she helped me when I placed my order. She called me, "Sir", and I told her there was no need to be so formal as we all know each other. Then she says, "My mother always told me to respect my elders." Well my pal and my other friends heard her reply and busted out laughing.

I was single track mountain biking on a fairly advanced trail and stopped to get directions to a new trail not on the apps and was addressed as, sir. Oh $h!t was my thought but remembered I have 30 years on them.

I was in a MTB video with youtuber BKXC, and in the comments section I was referred to as "some old guy" by some of the people commenting.
