Best shower cleaner
What is the most effective shower cleaner that does not require a hazmat suit. The grout lines between the little tiles on the shower floor specifically. Is there anything you can just spray on, let sit and rinse off without scrubbing?

Try a citrus based cleaner it might do the trick . Grout is tough to clean if it hasn't been sealed on a regular basis . The dirt/grime gets IN the grout not just ON the grout . If citrus based doesn't do it you'll probably have to use a gas mask
with a stronger cleaner . We do not have grout but my wife uses Kaboom tub/tile cleaner . Yep it stinks like death but wow does it clean .

Golden products have an excellent range of cleaners. You could ask at the supermarket if Golden Shower is available.

Honestly, if the grout is that bad..there is not much to do but scrape off the surface and re-grout.
There is a flat square tool for cutting lines. Use it slowly and lightly to not scratch up the tile. You can get "Sand-able grout" in a tube. $5-20 to do a shower. Do one section at a time. L/R. U/D. Put on tunes and submit to the tedious task. Wipe the tile clean immediately after with a damp t-shirt or two. It dries hard. Always be precise. Caulk and use useless silicone grout sealant after a few days if necessary. If the hot water supply is bad (i.e. my own rusty hot water heater) the problem will return in a year. Need to flush that and replace the anodizing rod at a minimum.

Epoxy grout is the business.
Not porous and less likely to turn discolored. |

The best shower cleaner at my house is my wife. Naked and scrubbing while she showers.

when i sold my last house, i had a pro grout company come in and clean everything. it wasnt that big of a cost. they left it gleaming! they fixed grout, they cleaned grout, and they sealed grout. i think it was $300.
i think getting a pro company every once in a while would be feasible.

THIS!!!! And it is more flexible, less likely to separate. When I had my kitchen re-done 20 years ago, I insisted on epoxy grout

These erasers work fantastic. I keep them in the shower and just use them periodically to keep things in gleaming condition. They work well on grout also.

Tried the Kaboom and did have to scrub a little. It worked pretty good. Will get Mr Clean magic eraser and try that next time. Thanks all for your input.--Dave

Chuck a brush to your cordless drill and use a little cleaning agent and the dirt comes right off. You can pre-soak it with Kaboom or whatever you like and scrub away. I use diluted bleach and it works fine.

WEt and Forget is the biz for mold. AFA cleaning build up there is a product that the tub refinisher guys use to get things clean enough for the coating they use to stick. Not something that you can buy at the HD.
I looked for an MSDS on this stuff to see what's in it and didn't find anything. I'll tell you, it's badass. I had to apply to buy the stuff and they have a $350 min purchase to get started with their company. I've done a few sinks with their products. So, if you can decipher what the stuff is, get it. |
