i was so bored yesterday, i rented and watched the new Charlies Angels.

oh boy. it might have been just as entertaining with the volume turned to mute.

i've caught up on Frozen II, Elsa is okay.

good lordie...i can only do so much yard work, and my kitchen counters are a solid shade lighter from the constant cleaning.

i do have a story to tell, LATER: i am still too embarrassed and frankly ashamed...

heads up. MOVIES _ SPENCER CONFIDENTIAL on Netflix is pretty good.
POLAR is entertaining.
AMERICAN ASSASSIN is a Mitch Rapp movie...great books. fun reads.

what else?

Yeah, I watched Spencer Confidential the other day. It was OK. Not great, but OK. the girl friend was Iliza Schleshinger (sp) who is a comedienne and has a bunch of specials on Netflix. She's pretty funny, and easy on the eyes.

I saw the previews for the new Charlies Angels. I'd have to be REALLY, REALLY desperate.

Maybe you should start exercising or reading.

I was watching Netflix when previews for Spencer Confidential came up. I commented to
My son that it looked good enough to watch. He scoffed and said he won’t watch anything by Mark Wahlberg because he’s an unrepentant racist who assaulted an Asian guy. A quick Google search later it turns out that there’s even an Urban Dictionary term for “Wahlberg” or “Mark Wahlberg” that refers to someone caught doing something egregiously racist and then apologizes insincerely and then only because they got caught. To be fair, he it was a long time ago and he has apologized (kind of) but it was a bad assault and there was more than one, and his apologies do have the ring of “I’m sorry I was caught”. All of which is too bad because I love most of his work. He also needs to apologize for Boogie Nights and the Transformers franchise, but I could have overlooked that. So anyway, I’m on my soapbox and off Mark Wahlberg movies which is sad.

I watched Spenser, and was hugely disappointed, because I've been a fan of the books for years. This movie attaches the franchise name to what is essentially a generic buddy cop film. What's missing is the witty, intelligent dialogue between the main character and Hawk, the sublime relationship that S has with his significant other, and the nod to a genteel way of life while simultaneously dealing with the dregs of criminal society.

I guess as a film with barely functional personal relationships and lots of yelling, blowing shi*t up and obvious, linear plotlines, well, this movie works great. (Edit, it works fine. Not great)

At least Pearl was pretty much kept intact more or less, but the relationship between her and Spenser really leans toward creepy at times....

Haven't seen Charlie's Angels, not gonna bother...

I watched "A Simple Favor" on EPIX yesterday. Black comedy thriller. Loved the music. Very film noir. I thought it had to be a re-make of some French film, but no.

I loved the original Spencer For Hire series. If I recall Hawk drove a BMW 5 Seties and Spencer used a .45 Auto. I always wanted to live in a firehouse. Sniper kind of ruined that daydream for me.

I remember Spencer for Hire and remember that being a good series. I was pretty young, and hadn't associated the two until you mentioned it. It was a very different kind of thing to the movie.
