Mat Mladin?? Wtf?
|
Stunning. If true, I hope he spends the rest of his life in prison.
|
Yeah, I know some people in the racing world and WTF barely describes the general reaction.
|
Takes some effort to figure out how to eff a <10 year old.
You're not supposed to do that. |
Yeah, I never could wrap my head around how anyone could go there. Just doesn't compute.
|
He's fcuked when he goes to prison here.
|
I think I read the headline three times before I clicked to read the article. It’s just unfathomable.

Remember, kids, all of our sports heroes are only human. Some of them not very good ones.
Just because he can ride a motorcycle quickly, or dunk a basketball, or hit home runs, or any number of other physical feats, does not mean he is all there mentally. And us slobbering, slathering sports fans keep telling them they are demigods, often ignoring even obvious signs of their deviancies so we can watch them play. Even after they get caught. Look at guys like Michael Vick - welcomed back into the NFL with open arms after all he had done. I bet guys who have spent time with Mladin have long suspected this, but were unwilling to rat out their heroic cash cow. And now they are acting all shocked and dismayed... |
I know people on the team he raced with and they are as perplexed as the rest of us.

Really - how would it look if any one of them came forward and said something like "I always suspected something"... but never said a word. I'm sure they are all as pure as the driven snow. |
It goes without saying that within a group of people you’ll have some ‘bad actors’. This charge goes well beyond the things we see so often today - substance abuse, domestic abuse, sexual misconduct. Child molestation?? That’s an entirely different type of sinister and demented. I really hope we don’t learn it was a Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein type of situation where it was known or even suspected without being dealt with.
|
You just never know what evil can be lurking under the surface . I hope his victims get the care they need . Very sad .

But of course, they must have known. Just STFU, for once. |
I am a thriving survivor of such stuff. If the charges are proven, he should go away for a very long time and spend it in general population so he can experience the pain & humiliation he inflicted on others. And, no soap on a rope for him.
A ten year old has a lifetime to carry the burden of having been molested. Therapy helps us adjust but the memory always remains. |

I bet most of us have met people in our lives that had some sort of a skeleton in their closet. Sometimes people we think we know quite well. People we worked with for years, family members, whatever. Are these guys those people to you, or was Mladin that guy to all of them? We may never know where the extent of the knowledge ended. It is, however, unusual for a group of guys to work closely together, travel together, hotel together, eat together - basically live together like family on the road - and not get inklings of each other's oddities. I learned this while working for decades under exactly those circumstances when I travelled the world in AOG. There are almost no secrets after awhile, no matter how hard someone might try to keep them. |
Whomever knew whatever can be addressed during te investigation, Mladin, if guilty needs to go down hard for this. 10 years old? No defense under any circumstances.

"a child under 10" ... If true that arse needs to spend decades in jail.

If it all comes out that his team knew nothing, which is entirely possible, then good on them. They would have nothing to be ashamed of. If the investigation determines that some or all of them knew, or even suspected, and failed to tell anyone, well then - while not equally culpable, they do share some of the guilt. We will just have to see how this plays out. |
I understand we'll have to see how things shake out but you were the one that derided everybody around him, when you knew none of them. Mat isn't convicted yet, let alone everyone he knew.
From what I gather from news reports, this is related to a single incident, roughly 6 months ago. The alleged victim is not one of his two daughters. He was arrested around the 13th of March and spent some time in jail before being released on a $50k bond and having his passport revoked. Ordinarily I think that if the cops indict someone, they're probably guilty more often than not. Something Mladin's lawyer said to the press was a little unusual, so I have a little doubt. We'll see. This article expresses what I'm hearing from people that knew him and worked with him. Means nothing, but it's what I was expressing yesterday. https://www.superbikeplanet.com/expletive-deleted-innocent-until-proven-guilty/ |

Either way, I'm not sure that I think these folks should ever get out at a minimum. |
Released on $50k bail ? wow - guess they don't think he will do it again while free?

I don't care if you know these guys or not - it is not unreasonable to bring this up. It has often proven to be the case that someone close to the offender knew, and turned a blind eye. Kind of the price of association, especially with someone so famous. And, like I said, if they well and truly had no idea, then good on them. Nothing to be ashamed of. It looks like that is probably all moot anyway, since we now know this alleged incident was a mere six months ago, long after his riding career and therefor his association with his crew members has ended. In light of that, it doesn't look like any of them could have known. Unless, of course, there prove to be previous incidents that come to light during the investigation. That appears unlikely at this point, however, so it looks like your friends are probably completely innocent. Most pedophiles are not, unfortunately, single incident or single victim offenders. Rather, it seems to be an insatiable urge that drives them to offend again and again. Let's hope that is not the case here, and he was caught early on, before he could go on their typical spree of destruction. |
And now you call me childish? Jesus, you are some kind of *******.

It has become abundantly clear that you are unable to participate in this discussion in anything approaching an adult manner. |
It's amusing to see someone who's initial post in this thread addressed a forum full of old fuuckers as "kids" tossing the, "that's childish", commentary around. :D

If there have been more incidents, they will be sure to come out. Look at Cosby for instance. It is easy to march out with the virtue and the torches, but let's not jump the gun. There are certain types of behavior that everyone does know about and will tolerate, and others that people will shrug off seeing because they are too heinous. I don't think you can assume that people knew and took a blind eye. In this case there hasn't been a trial yet. Social virtue signalling makes it easy to point a finger these days. Jumping on the band wagon is easy, and there is the emotional payoff of feeling superior. No need to form an opinion based on generalities. Facts will often out. |

Once and for all and it will be the last time I ever ask... Why aren't you allowed to post PARF anymore? The problem is a lot of people here take this internet thing way too seriously. |

Childish? Like the orange guy who throws tantrums whoever he doesn't get the amount of ass kissing he believes he deserves, or a different kind of childish? :D Totally agree about peeps here taking the forum stuff way to seriously. |

I commend javadog for defending his friends, I really do. We would expect that. Where I have issue is the manner in which he chose to do that. Intelligent adults can do these things while remaining civil. He clearly cannot. And yes, I take great issue with the guys like him who consistently lower the level of discourse on this forum to that of childish rants and name calling. There is no call for it. |
Higgins, you and I butt heads because you have a habit of opening your piehole about things you know nothing about. It started with a breed of dog you've never owned and I'm sure we have been on opposite sides of the fence when it comes to motorcycles. I've quit discussing either of those subjects with you, as it's always just a waste of time.
In this case you were quick to disparage people you've never met and couldn't even name. When I pushed back on that, having actually heard their reactions, you doubled down on your ignorance. "I'm sure they are all as pure as the driven snow" you say... I'd give you a little leeway if you'd ever met Mladin, or knew him. Or if you'd ever met and interacted with his teammates, his crew, the folks at American Suzuki and other sponsors, etc. But no, that's not part of your world, never has been. You look down on him because he's one of the most successful, and certainly probably the best paid, motorcycle racers we have seen race in the US. You know, one of those damn DEMIGODS we all give a pass to. If you knew anything about him, you'd know he was famously private. His personal life was off-limits. Those journalists that tried to pry usually got told to **** off. He was a pilot and liked to fly himself to the races. He wasn't everybody's buddy. He last raced for his team 11 years ago. I'm sure you were there for his last race appearance. I think I remember seeing you there. Remember? Remember what he said when he left, for good? Packed it in, flew back to California, then left for OZ? There will be no investigation of his past associations in this country. What he did as a racer more than a decade ago is irrelevant to the Australian cops that are investigating what he may have done in NSW, 6 months ago. His alleged victim wasn't even born yet when he last threw a leg over a superbike in the country. Of course, you don't seem to like cops much so it's no surprise that you don't know how investigations work. Here's a hint; they are usually pretty well finished when charges get filed. I'll admit I have little patience for you running your mouth about subjects you're not familiar with. It's not childish, I just think you're a jerk sometimes. Stick to what you know. |
