Still working thank God, and still in the office. Not worried. I can work from home but I’m not as effective, some files require being on site to access. About 80% of the 2,000 ish people at our site are on furlough effective Monday, so I guess that counts as social distancing.

Still working at home. Took a reduction in pay. The company furloughed my entire staff for 60 days. I am the lone survivor for my business categories. Every day feels like a year.....

pwd72s 03-27-2020 10:15 AM

Cindy & I both in the at risk category. Retired, staying home, no visitors.

I do want to give a sincere tip of my hat to all who are out there, keeping our nation going at it's diminished capacity.

We are still working and our staff is doing great. Just doing drive thru and curbside for the next month.

cabmandone 03-27-2020 10:21 AM

Still doing my thing. It's funny how long I go without having a customer come to my place and now that all of this is going down, I'll have had two customers this week come to my shop to look at a machine. When this all clears, I probably won't see a customer for 4 month and it'll all go back to long distance sales.

I am IT in healthcare but in a separate building than most everyone else.

We have one guy that is paranoid about stuff but then seldom washes his hands, especially at lunch time.

asphaltgambler 03-27-2020 10:39 AM

I'm essential as well for the gub-ment. There's talk of rotating days on / off but my pay remains the same regardless, so I'm very blessed. My wife is a surgical assistant for a private group and because now only emergency surgeries are in being addressed- they furloughed a lot of staff but she's ok. Hours are less but still 'on'....

I work for an automotive part supplier to the OE and aftermarket. Aftermarket is extremly busy, the OE side not so much. Some of the office people have the option and are working from home. I have that choice as well but I'm choosing to go in. The shop floor is working 3 shifts and overtime as necessary (end of the month). We have had 2 cases that were negative. It's a scare and there is allot of pent up anxiety throughout the entire facility.
I took vacation time Thursday and Friday. Having a long weekend, I didn't realize how draining this has been on me.

We are probably 1 positive case away from shutting the entire place down.

Off Topic, but that sounds like a really interesting job/place to work. (that sucks about the immune suppression drugs. Sorry buddy.)

take care,

Still working from our office. We have run out of sanitizer and wipes. Technicians in our shop have been instructed to wash and reuse nitrile gloves, as we are running low and our next delivery is several weeks out.

Some of us have laptops, cell phones, and VPN access, but the president won't authorize us to work from home. It's mind boggling and infuriating.

We can burn through our PTO and then take time off without pay if we don't want to be here.

I'm thankful that we haven't lost our jobs, but is this worth the risk?

mgatepi 03-27-2020 11:18 AM

We are in the auto parts mfg. supply chain. Being part of the Japanese auto world, all our mfg activity is down, but basic functions still need to go on. We have procedures in place for social distancing, cleaning areas, temp taking etc etc. Our HR manager is incredibly busy.....feel bad for her having to deal with all our folks and their questions and helping get them set up on unemployment....
Extremely stressful environment for everyone.....of course for virus fears, but mostly about what the future has in store.

Engineering work in major tech firm hasn't missed a beat, WFH for the past 3 weeks. Arguably even more productive at this time since there's less to do. Just found out even the public tennis courts are locked out !

astrochex 03-27-2020 11:44 AM

Very thankful to still be working. My job cannot be performed at home.

Noah930 03-27-2020 11:45 AM

Mrs. Noah is worried. She works in a nursing home/elder care setting. So everyone there is an essential employee. One resident has been diagnosed with Covid-19. Mrs. Noah is super paranoid about accidentally bringing it home. Wears scrubs everyday (instead of her regular business casual wardrobe), and even strips down in the garage before entering the house--then goes straight to the shower once inside. I don't mind the stripping down part , but the rest of her paranoia is getting to me a bit. Hey, just take the proper precautions and go on with it. These are the jobs we knew we signed up for.

Im in Northern NJ and my office is in Westchester. We have been working from home about 3 weeks now. Someone in my building had it on March 1, happily though Ive been symptom free. We had almost 3000 new cases yesterday, so we are pretty much on lock down. No one in my town has been DXed yet, but it probably just a matter of time. I know there was a worker from the supermarket in the next time with the DX.

Work has continued to be busy but new busy. I am a business consultant and most of my clients are putting their projects on hold. We are simply offering support around COVID; what to expect and how to manage employees. A number of my clients are furloughing employees. Truly sucks.

I think we are still a month out from improvements happening. I hope it is sooner but the data doesn't support much earlier. I feel for you all that have lost your jobs, lets hope this moves through quickly.

My job with the Medical Examiner is obviously still going strong , and we are exceptionally busy now. We have had to drastically changes our response and body handling procedures due to this. Facility staff is down do very bare minimum. A lot are working from home where possible.

My firefighting gig, is status quo, although call volume has significantly dropped the past two weeks. On, calls when possible, very minimum manpower enters a home or building to investigate. Trying to keep any possible exposure down.

My home improvement business is basically at a standstill.

My small crew is still at it, but it seems like no one is working really hard. Surprisingly I see soap bottles hanging around the job site suddenly. That's a good sign. I am almost done with this one house but I need a couple of shower faucet to finish up. Clean the place and move home owner back in. She's been out of her house for over a year. This was a complex one. I have another project completely opened up and can't button it up due to regulations and the county closing up the office. I am stuck but there's always something to do there.

I talked with some of the neighbors walking up and down the hill, a few mentioned that its spreading around the neighborhood near by through the Nextdoor app. I really hope this thing doesn't go full blown on us.

Still working,

Being on the front lines in public service/safety kinda keeps us busy. Although, commuting to work I pass through an area usually busy in summer months. Rather shocked because it is more packed than a 4th of July holiday weekend. Herds of folks walking on trails and even seeing parking lots so jammed that the overflow are parking on the highway. It makes me shake my head at the large number of people not taking this serious. I had to drop some N95 masks off for my parents and I was wearing a mask and rubber gloves just so I do not risk possibly passing onto them since they are in the "high risk" age group. One guy in the shop is on lockdown quarantine due to showing every symptom and still waiting for the test results. Even with that, it is still business as usual.

gacook 03-27-2020 01:32 PM

Still working. Based on what I do, I will be working for any apocalypse this nation/world has. Generally not concerned (personally), to be quite honest.
