I work for a small non-profit in Jacksonville. I am the only one in my department (we sort donated clothing by size/gender and distribute it to other agencies/non-profits/churches etc that distribute it to those that need it). Almost all non-profits here are shut down. I am still going to work as I am trying to complete setting up and entering our product into inventory. We are good until the middle of next month before we will see some changes in wages/hours etc. Our CEO has already taken a pay cut as well.

Of course, once this is over, we are going to get slammed with donations as I am sure a lot of people are taking the time to clean their closets. And my whole "workforce" is volunteers so I hope they all come back!

Still working, for now. We were deemed "non-essential" even though we sell everything, sans food/bev and pot/ that the rest due. Difference is, it's used and the 18 stores are owned by non-profits that can only provide their services (disabled vets and homeless) from the revenues their stores "did" provide. Guess disabled vets and the homeless are now "non essential". Yeah, I'm pissed. Laid off 350 on monday, another 50 this coming monday. Already applied for the SBA Disaster Relief Loan and others. Fingers crossed. OH, and hell yeah I'm worried.....

Still working in support of essential retail businesses, slowing down quite a bit this week. Have kept my 47 employees on through this cleaning and reorganizing the warehouse, will be laying off 5 in 35 minutes and another 10 next Friday at this rate. It hurts these are my employees.

Same, been at home for 3 weeks, but helping all my customers get setup for remote work. Only head out for groceries every two weeks, like you all not worried about my practices but the stupid people out there.

I am still working part time but social isolation is in my job description. I mostly work outdoors and rarely interact with anyone. A good gig in this weirdness.

My wife works in radiology at a major med center. She is not interacting with live C-19 patients but still sweating the job a bit. The hospital is a giant petri dish.

Hoping my PE-backed firm doesn’t get told by said PE-firm to scale back commensurately with the drop in business. I’m W@H for last two weeks and things have slowed to a crawl. It’s alarming but I’m convinced we’ll do better than ever on the other side of all this IF the money guys will think long game.

I work in executive protection and the person I work for is not leaving his home so I am not needed as he has others that cover his property. I get paid every month and because the person who handles the payments has not been at work I have not been paid since March 1st. and will not get paid April 1st either. My wife owns a café so I have been working there but we are only making enough to pay the bills and pay the employees that show up, nothing left for us after that. Luckily we have savings that should be able to get us by for a while.

I also wonder if humanity, as a whole, will change any of their usual interpersonal interactions moving forward.

Will we still shake hands with our casual friends? Hug them?

Even close family. Will that modify at all?

Lots of good stories on here. Our family does extremely well and have two good paychecks. My daughter has Type 1 diabetes so we are being extra careful. I am classed as essential and need to show up. IMHO this will change the way we think and interact for a while. This life we are living is about people, not the stuff we have or want. Hoping everyone is safe.

TRE Motorsports is open for service, repair, and parts. 10 families depend on the income produced by our business. We have taken a lot of precautions with cleaning cars before we work on them, clean before delivery, encourage clients to have their cars towed in, front office door locked to receive parts outside. Distance ourselves from each other, no lunch together at the common table, wipe off office and shop doors, gloves for everyone, spray bottle of disinfectant for each person, wash with hot as you can stand water and soap before/after bathroom,. handling food. It is a lot of work ! But we consider the alternative for our families, clients so it has to be done

I work as a prototype tech for a large autoparts suspension supplier and was working until Tuesday.

The Ohio Governor declared a "shelter in place" stay at home decree on Sunday, so most non-essential businesses closed for 14 days. The Factory I work for was taking volunteers (and paying extra) for a few days, but recent spikes in confirmed cases has squashed that. I said no to volunteering because of my checkered health history/new pace maker/compromised immune system.

I am however getting alot done at home on the farm.

Business as usual building houses. Interacting with trades and vendors all day, but trying to keep our distance. Being a germaphobe, I use hand sanitizer all throughout the day, plus hand washing.

Interesting note, the owner of the company, with ~850 employees, got the virus from his kids when they came home when university was closed

My wife and I are still working. As a tax and accounting practice, we're considered essential in NJ. We're allowed to be open, but we closed our office to clients as of last Monday, the 16th. We have one part timer who does filing and other clerical work for us, as well as assembling the hard copy packages for our clients. We're able to maintain our space as her desk is away from our offices ans we rarely cross paths. Everyone washes and sanitizes their hands regularly. Clients have been informed that they can mail their paperwork to us or drop it through the large mail slot on our front door. Anything needing to be clarified is handled via phone and e-mail. Clients can't pick up their completed returns, but we've absorbed the cost of mailing them USPS priority flat rate. We trust them to mail us a check after they've received their bill. So more expenses, and bad debt exposure, but we're still working and trying to be socially responsible.

This shop is owned by Norfolk Southern RR. They still do quite a bit of component repair/rebuild compared to the other major railroads in the US. Most outsource their component rebuilds to 3rd party rebuilders now but they’ve all had their own heavy repair shops in the past. NS still has the capability to strip a loco down to the frame and do a complete modernization here. I work for one of the 2 locomotive manufacturers in the US and am here as a field service engineer. I provide tech and parts support to the shop and the RR in general. It’s a nice job. Locos have become complicated beasts over the last 30+ years as they try to pull more with less.

Color me jealous. I am a huge railroad fan, and yes, a model railroader.

Google NS Juniata Locomotive Shop. I can take a few pics of the place on Monday too. It’s enormous and has had a long history, from the PRR through Penn Central and Conrail through the present day. At one time the place employed around 20,000 people.

I continue with a small family rental business and am privileged in what should be an optimal booming college town (a university with $5b/yr endowment but mostly shut down now). Could have sold at peak but chose not to. P/E ratios are always slim.

Much-overdue overhead and regulations are always a major sinker to this business. Much of the work I've done myself. Improvements have been made but still a long ways to go. It allows a free schedule most of the time but also some times of over 110% involvement. Sanding floors and poly at 2am sux. "Keep a property as if you live in it" was once said.

Despite all that, still many factors are involved and create uncertainty. This city is changing faster than I can keep up with and poor decisions higher up have been made imo. New building and expenses are/were out of control. I am directly tied with the economy viability of this local area.
