The GM 2.8L V6 from the Chevy S10/Blazer has been a popular MG/Triumph swap. There's a guy in the local car club that has an MGB with that engine in it. Transmission too I think.

I know less than squat about those, but it does look dry and not too rusty, which is surprising since it spent part of its life in MN.

Yes it's pretty amazing. I went around all over the underside with an ice pick and a magnet. Nothing but solid steel and undercoating as far as I could find.
