John Prine- think positive thoughts
Looks to be in trouble. Love John
|
Gonna be a long Monday
Sittin' all alone on a mountain By a river that has no end |
I was thinking today, about how so many older musicians, who have stood the test of time (Keith Richards aside), will get brought down by this.
|
Oh no! Prayers and best wishes to John.
|
Placido Domingo is also in the hospital with CV. Apparently stable as of now.
|
That just sucks. I'm so bummed out about this I don't know what to think....

Just give me one thing that I can hold on to
To believe in this living is just a hard way to go... Prine is one of the few song writers I genuinely admire, seems to be so my whole life. |
I was supposed to see him at Jazz Fest
He cancelled last year...but was back in good health This blows |

Just saw him in LA a few months ago. Awesome show.
And FWIW, he prolly wouldn't care if you offered up a prayer for him too. |
Dammit, have tickets to see him in August. He's a bucket list show. All positive thoughts John.
"So if you're walking down the street sometime And spot some hollow ancient eyes Please don't just pass 'em by and stare As if you didn't care, say, "Hello in there, hello" |
"My Linda goes to Mars, everytime I sit and look at pictures of used cars."
"We was sittin' in the back seat, just shooting the breeze, with her hair up in curlers, and her pants to her knees" |

John is a tough bird, survived a couple bouts of serious crap including throat cancer. This sucks. |
Oh, damn. I only discovered him about 15 years ago but love his music. I'm sorry to hear this.

I heard and thoroughly enjoyed John's music starting back in the 70's, his lyrics and music are sooo good. He's truly an American treasure in my book.
He helped me through some rough times with his humor and WTH attitude. Thanks John, best to you always bud!! an old favorite <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-ZI9XQAeopk" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> and a newer one <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nXbEFTv9zr0" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

I started reading this thread last night and I was up until midnight listening to John Prine. He can turn a phrase for sure.
Ironically, the song I like the most wasn't written by him. But he sang on it, and it sounds like something he would have written. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/z7FM4CLG4H0" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
saw this yesterday and it broke my heart, I hope he comes through, tough old bastard beat cancer twice so I have faith
|
Lot of "Car Guy" in him too!
|
If you're a fan of JP and not seen this, you should remedy that real soon while waiting for him to recover (he said with fingers crossed...):
