Those stuck at home: how are you avoiding cabin fever?
I've worked out for 22 days straight.
Been doing deferred maintenance on my other cars. Learned a bunch of new stuff related to work, as well. What about you? |
I'm retired and got all my car maintenance done in Dec of last year (once a year oil change).
So I've been playing with my camera's and the new lens I got for Christmas. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1585841711.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1585841711.JPG |
I'm a recluse, so this is no different for me. I am used to staying home, playing with my dogs, and watching movies.
|
Scott, is that a 18-105mm?
|
I live in the Sierra foothills and I’m clearing trees and brush and burning almost every day. Take my dog for walks on desolate trails near by. No cabin fever for me.

It's my Sony FE4/24-105 G OSS lens. It's been a great addition to my A7ii & A7iii. |
My wife is sewing up some masks for us to wear when we go to the store.

I won't get into specifics, but my right arm looks like Popeyes.

I've been spending a lot of time watching YouTube videos and Blueray movies.
Walking everyday with my mum helps a lot. She's 82 and she can still look after herself. |
What cabin fever? 76 trips around the sun, long retired. Other than missing the weekly trips to our favorite pool hall, live hasn't changed much for Cindy and I.
|
I'm enjoying the heck out of it.

HO scale Marklin Orient Express locomotive and set of cars. A second set of cars is on order. Fully digital with a multitude of sounds, lighting and stack smoke. Please excuse the focus.

I’m still working all day, but with the place almost empty there are less people needing me for issues, so my office is starting to get organized.
|
Nice! My layout has been getting more attention than usual as well.

Walking the dogs six times a day. Morning walk I’m still wearing my pajamas. Another few weeks and I’ll be walking the dogs, wearing pajamas and holding a beer.

The funny thing about the new features that these engines have, is that you could extend the pandemic for months and I STILL wouldn't have time to figure out all the features! Random pic of what I AM doing: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1585868348.jpg What I secretly WANT to be doing (DC-vintage Rivarossi and not Marklin- my local train guy would croak! Oh the agony!!!! :) ) : http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1585868394.jpg |
..and THIS was my "social distancing" several weeks ago- Including real trains!

Otherwise, I'd be right there with you. I mean, not really RIGHT there with you. |
I was thinking of trying to drive a train into the side of a ship to relieve the boredom and maybe get on TV but someone beat me to it.
|
I am getting more serious about gardening, for food (potatoes, tomatoes)...
|
Started a morning exercise routine with my son. Our Governor just saw his shadow and predicted three more weeks of virus. I should be ripped by the time we get the all clear.
|
I just read a lot. I always have but going much deeper these days.
|
3 and 5 yo keep me pretty busy until their 8pm seepie time.
Then wifey time until 8:15ish. Then garage!! |
Walks on weekdays and 911 drives on the weekends...to go to a place where I can walk of course, in keeping with traveling for essential activities.
|
I'm building a 10x16 greenhouse for my wife, and restoring a John Deere 316 for me. I rolled 2 yards today (6 acres total), cleaned the barn, and mounted a bathroom light. Tomorrow, my SIL, and I, are cleaning out the garage from all of their October 2019 wedding.
Yesterday, I helped my son fix the leaking turbo connections on his 99 powerstroke. I'm thrilled that they extended the layoff, because I have a long list yet to do....no boredom here, I call this retirement practice. I hope to get my bike out over the weekend with better weather coming. |

Still going to work everyday. My staff is greatly reduced, so it's quiet. Office usually has 200-ish; my department in the 20's. We're down to 4 in my office (6 who alternate week on/week off, and myself). Little weird being in a huge, damn near empty building.
|
I mowed my yard today. That was nice to get done before it rained.
|
|
^^^ Now you have to throw it the old fashioned way!
|
Breakfast
Plant snow peas Make 2nd planting of lettuce and onions Spray fruit trees Clean out chicken barn Shower Lunch Nap Weld up an axle for the chicken tractor Move chicken tractor to pasture Start chicken noodle soup Make cookies Dinner Hot tub Here Bed in a few minutes Except for eating lunch and dinner tomorrow will be a different list, with less of a chicken theme. Changing oil in the mowers is on the list. No boredom here |

Bought a ton of alcohol today of all varieties. Added on more frozen stuff (protein) and we're doing take out the next couple nights. I'm planning that the next couple weeks in SoCal will get worse and will not venture out unless a priority.

I took the dogs for a second walk today, the evening was warm, no wind and the beach was looking good. Not really a lot of people. Everyone suitably social distancing which was good.
Unfortunately I started sneezing. Something to do with sun on the wrong angle, beach smell, dog smell up my nose. WOW, did people flee. I must have cleared 75 to 100 meters either way. Great way to get some space I guess. |
