Passport died
I have a 9500ix and it passed away over the weekend. Not sure if this is related to my dead battery. If I plug in the cord, it flashes (on the cord) and never starts.
If I plug in the cord first and then plug it into the Passport, same issue. I looked into getting it repaired and Passport will still repair this model - YAY! But Passport is closed due to COVID-19 - Booooh! Assuming this stupidity continues, what is everyone doing for radar detectors these days?

That's the same model I have. I did have to replace the charging cord once, but it's worked flawlessly for over 10 years. Saved me many, though not every, times.

Until I read your whole post, I thought it was a Honda Passport.
I haven't used a detector for a few years now...it never seemed to help me, plus as I get older, I drive more carefuly. During this time, less likely to get pulled over...unless doing something really stupid. Sorry I can't help.

I'm using Waze and people are posting the police positions. I just checked, I bought the 9500ix 6 years ago. I don't think it is the cord. I had the Bluetooth connected cord for a while, but it did croak and I went back to using the regular cord.
Since I had the Passport in my office, I looked around and found a mini-USB cord and plugged it in. It connected right up to my PC. Maybe it is the cord. Anyone had luck with an aftermarket cord?

$29 for an original replacement power cord. I think I'll take that chance

I had a similar issue with a V1 many years ago. It ended up being the cable.
A V1 can use a regular phone cord as long as it's got all of the wires vs just 2.

Uniden R3 is arguably the best non-arrow RD with GPS for low speed muting and locking out problem signals. A great replacement/upgrade to what you have been using. I have two. Love them.
Uniden R7 has arrows but is more money and much bigger (which I dont like). But the performance is really good. Valentine just released a totally new RD. Looks cool. Priced in line with the R7, but requires your phone for GPS. Not sure that's a deal breaker, but some may object to the extra phone drain. Looks like a toss up with the R7. Google Vortex Radar Reviews for all the latest. Sidenote: 85 is now the minimum recommended speed on I10. |

Stop my friend. Relax.
Get some good sleep after a glass of water with small simple calories to calm the stomach. Wake up and piss at midnight and try to go back to bed. Try ti fix what is wrong. Ignore those thoughts swimming around inside the brain. They don't contribute to the healthy being.

I bought a V1 20 years ago and it worked great, but over time, I found myself not trying to get to my destination so fast. Slow is fast.
