Heads up- HF tool score. Cheap + strong 3/8 cordless impact $129

At HF this is on sale with a non-published coupon for $50 off. Now $129 0n sale. Almost 400 FT.LBS breakaway in reverse.

Just used it on 3/4 lugnuts and some frame bolts- no charge right out of box blasted 'em off. Works great.

Go to register and tell them coupon: 47206317

Hf is definitely upping their game, frequently going directly head to head with Snap-on comparison testing, posting customer reviews.

Pulled it out of the box, stuck a 3/4 socket on the nose, undid bolts holding my receiver in on my truck and some luguts. Blamo. right off, no charge just go.

Love it. It's also tiny.

Wow that's a pretty darn good deal! Kind of makes me wish I didn't purchase the Milwaukee 3/8 M12 Fuel stubby impact two weeks ago....

Buy one and throw it in the car. I can't believe what this thing puts out. Can't go wrong at that price.

Just waiting for the big 1/2 to go on sale.

Agree that HF is upping their game. The quality of the new brands seems much improved.

Have you seen that new quiet air compressor they’re selling? I forget the brand and am too lazy to look it up. They had one plugged in that you could test — it seemed pretty great for the price. Yeah, it’s not going to power your sand blasting rig, but for most home-duty work it seemed pretty perfect. Way better and quieter than my old Porter Cable pancake compressor — that one is stupid loud.

I go to HF maybe once a month to pick up something that I won't use much, maybe once once. So being a 'regular', I say they have improved but a lot of it is image. I can buy a lot of what they sell cheaper at other places. That's one advantage of living in a metropolis. They are the masters of putting lipstick on pigs and making every "blowout" sale seem different or better than the last.

Not even.

This it? Very tempting.... Maybe next 25% off coupon I get.

FYI there are always 20% off coupons online. And free tape measures & screwdrivers.

Use their moving blankets for everything. When they get worn, they are good for tub & shower pan protectors during construction, and then dropcloths.....

Edit: Looks like other competitive sources for quiet compressors. Thank you for pointing out an option, less noise is always good....

...normally I go to HF if I intend to leave behind the tool or if it's someone else's car and I didn't feel like packing my own stuff to lose - travel. I do travel to help friends and family on occasion- or if 'kinda works' is acceptable and I'm in a pinch. I absolutely, positively hate their hand tools.

However, this gun is OK, was shopping and found reviews for the Earthquake and enough people swore by it.

The last coupon I got from them excluded the brand I wanted. I really want that Daytona floor jack we discussed here a while back. For a cordless impact driver, my old DeWalt is still going very strong.

I have a HF 1/2" air impact that is 5 years old, that is one amazing tool, its small, it been dropped multiple time and lived a life of pure neglect and it continues to amaze me how well it performs. It actually forced my other impact guns into retirement.

Same here, but it's probably 10 years old. At the time it was the top of the line Earthquake model. I fling it across the garage floor, drop it, and can't remember the last time I oiled it. Still going strong.

For the recreational mechanic I can't see where you would ever need anything more than HF. I've had good luck with their products overall, and have easily broken more Craftsman hand tools. Let's be honest, just about any low to mid level tool will be made in China, at least HF is priced accordingly.

+1

Four years for my 1/2" Earthquake so far. I did get 10 years out of a $25 HF 1/2" impact and then it died. I oiled it maybe three times with the third being the day she died.

I oil the new one several times per year since the first one only gave me a decade. I put it right in the hole near where it says "Oil Daily"

The subject guns caught my eye around Thanksgiving. Nice display. Nice feeling in the hands but close to two bills. This discount offer is tempting.

I have a Snap ON MG25 in my drawer, but no compressor in new house- for what this thing puts out it's great- no more leaky air lines, crappy cheap compressors that barely work.

I wasn't able to find that coupon when looking for it specifically- I managed to find it, display it but shut down all the pages before and after. If you can't find it use the code above at the cash register. You don't need the coupon present, just the code.

I bought the 301 piece Pittsburg tool set from HF when I left to work in Saudi.

7 years later when I left, I sold it for more than I paid.

This impact gun has gone through a couple of YT reviews with complete dismantling and inspection. Apparently it is Snap On quality at 1/4 the price. Going to get one next time I'm in a store. I think the compact size will be nice.

AVE finds most of the earthquake stuff to be relatively Skookum upon teardown. I think HF tools are Hit or miss. Maybe 20% of their tools are great and and a crazy bargain, 30% are serviceable, and maybe half are craptacular.

I have been tempted to get an earthquake E-impact but I think its worth the extra money to get a tool that is better supported with more universal batteries. All of my tools are Bosch and dewalt, but I would be tempted to go Milwaukee since they have such a crazy variety of tools on their m18 platform.

I got a $50 gift card from HF for X-mas, but I can't think of anything they sell that I don't already have or that I need.
I'll probably get 6 pairs of the mechanic's gloves, and a funnel set, and a spare razor knife, a couple flashlights, and half a dozen spare 10mm sockets, and .....

I keep a roll of this stuff in my tool box and junk drawer. Good for coiling extension cords and charger cords.
